Benchy with 0.1 layer
Because everything was running very well I did a test with a benchy with 0.1 layer. On the MK3 it was 2:50 printing time; with the MK4 2:40 and with MK4S 1:05. A dramatic cut down. The quality is the same level: ringing/ ghosting slightly reduced (it was already on a very good level). But on the bow with an overhang of 45° a minor defects showed up. The standard setting for TPU on the input shaper increased the filament temperature and therefore increased stringing also. It is impressive how good the print is already and I think with the final firmware it will be perfect.
RE: Benchy with 0.1 layer
How did you get the 0.1 layer height? I only have one choice with the shaper setting of 0.2
RE: Benchy with 0.1 layer
goto "Print settings" and change "Layer height" to 0.1. Leave everything else untouched and save the setting with a different name.
RE:
Thanks; I thought so, but figured may as well take advantage of your experience.
RE: Benchy with 0.1 layer
You can do it even a bit better: With the MK4 printer selected copy the 0.1 quality printer profile to a different name. Open this profile and on Dependencies change MK4 to MK4IS and this profile will show up once you select the MK4IS printer.
RE: Benchy with 0.1 layer
Thanks again. I’m quite excited to see the quality possible with the mk4, even with alpha firmware.
RE: Benchy with 0.1 layer
I did some benchmarking and will post some pictures on the weekend. The quality with the InputShaper is incredible, considering the print time. If you want best of the best InputShaper combined with the standard print speed (and acceleration) is perfect (very minor artefacts - but this is still alpha SW).
You can say that the difference to a good adjusted MK3 is small (MK3 is a very excellent machine). But putting everything together (features of the Nextruder, noise, speed) the upgrade is worth the money (OK - I'm a bit paranoic on quality)
