RE: 5.0.0-RC Firmware for Original Prusa MK4
I find the default filament profiles very ooze-y, which causes a lot of stringing, bed leveling and blobbing issues. They should really have another go at the default profiles.
I had similar issues but on stable firmware. I was only getting the problem with PETG, sometimes some massive layer shifts. Discovered that PETG was oozing to much, it would then leave a blob on the print, next time the nozzle swept past it, it knocked the axis out. I ended up adjusting retractions, lift Z etc. Haven't had a problem since.
RE:
Well, my next PETG print was pristine on 4.7.2 so I'll wait until I see another issue before I start tweaking Z-lift et al. But thank you for those suggestions!! 🙂
RE: 5.0.0-RC Firmware for Original Prusa MK4
I think this happens after input shaping firmware update. I performed the complete self test all passed on the first layer on the right side only I am getting ripples it looks like the rest of the first layer is okay this puts a deform on the bottom of the print * See picture.
I am also getting some ripples on only one side, at a diagonal across the corner of a print.
This happens when I use an IS profile in PrusaSlicer.
I am running the 5.0.0 IS firmware.
If I use the 5.0.0 IS firmware but select a non IS profile in PrusaSlicer, then I get a perfect first layer.
RE:
Wait, I thought that pattern looked oddly familiar. I printed this a few weeks ago after switching to the 5.0-RC1 FW; the other case did not have those wavy lines:
I didn't really think much of it as it's the side against the wall. I believe when you said "diagonal, at the corner of a print" it fired some synapses somewhere.
RE: 5.0.0-RC Firmware for Original Prusa MK4
I was getting ripples on part of my first layer when using Polymaker Silk PLA. I ended up doing a Pressure advance calculation on that filament and sure enough the new setting fixed it. I was using 5.0.0 RC firmware.
RE: 5.0.0-RC Firmware for Original Prusa MK4
I did see a post on Reddit from someone at Prusa saying they were about to release it and found a last minute bug they needed to fix. Then they’d need to go back through verification. They didn’t say how long that would take.
RE: 5.0.0-RC Firmware for Original Prusa MK4
Stuck on requesting filament path to be cleared when changing filament manually.
Helped only disconecting and reconecting filament sensor
RE: 5.0.0-RC Firmware for Original Prusa MK4
I've been having the same problem. Where do I find the pressure advance calculation and/or what do I adjust?

There is huge quality problem vfa on y axis even on structural quality preset IS 5.0.0RC

Ha! Enjoy this then:

Aside from VFa, there's a weird orange peel artefact on everything the Y axis touches. If the Y motor is doing anything at all and the print speed is over 40mm/s - orange peel. There's something wrong with the Y axis, this happens on stable firmware too. Seems mechanical? I went through 3 Y motors and they all do that with no difference between them. New bearings didn't change a thing. Belt tension - nope. New Y belt - also nope. New parts, this time in ASA - nope as well. I have no idea what's going on, but as it stands now - the printer is unable to print cleanly at speeds over 40mm/s.
As for VFA, they reduce by like 80-90% at 60mm/s and are completely gone at 70mm/s. There's a specific angle where they occur. They start even as low as 20mm/s. At 20-25mm/s they're visible pretty much only on silk filaments, but pretty clearly. Guess where the VFA peak is tho? 40-45mm/s. The structural profile. Heh.
I'm currently running the structural profile with external/small walls at 80mm/s because of this. It's also the point where the orange peel starts to stretch out a bit, which looks a bit better than what the default 45mm/s produces. Still, I cannot get rid of the orange peel without lowering the speed below 45mm/s.

Anyone know anything about the formal release of 5.0?

@Mataksik
I am having the same issue. I am having to reset the machine when it happens.
I'll try disconnecting/reconnecting filament sensor.

finaly there is response from Prusa-Support

- Re-inserting the filament several times may knock off debris from the filament sensor mechanism.
- Find the cleaning hole on the top of the Nextruder, in the middle of it, next to the brass ring, and blow canned air through it.
- As the last resort, you can remove the "Nextruder sandwich" (brass ring + plastic parts, so you don't need to repeat the PG alignment) and remove the filament sensor spring for deeper inspection and cleaning.
Please refrain from disconnecting components or touching electronic components while the printer is powered on as this may cause damages.

Hi guys,
stable release is here! More info at https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/input-shaping/5-0-0-firmware-for-original-mk4-mk3-9-is-out-now/

Is there a photo of the cleaning hole on the top of the nextruder?
RE: 5.0.0-RC Firmware for Original Prusa MK4
Question for anyone that had spaghetti and layer shift....
- What USB dongle are you using ?
1) PRUSA Original
2) Other vendor (indicate the manufacturer and dongle model and size)
RE: 5.0.0-RC Firmware for Original Prusa MK4
Strictly the Prusa supplied ADATA USB sticks. And now that you have me thinking about it, ALL of the models and FW updates have used those sticks; I've not yet put a non-Prusa supplied USB stick into my MK4.
I'm going to be curious to see if the new 5.0 release is working any better after I finish printing my sub-woofer v2 cab from Hexibase (which thus far is SWEET under 4.7.2, and my first "multicolor" print attempt). I may do a full calibration after updating the FW just to be sure it's not something else that knocked itself off spec while I was testing 5.0-RC.
