RE: Under-extrusion or gaps at seams with input shaper settings and 5.x firmware

Hello, my Prusa Mini+ is two weeks old. First, I neglected input shaper profiles, and everything ran fine. Then I discovered input shaping profiles and, of course, fell in love with those speeds, except for the seams. My seam on input shaping profile 0,2mm SPEED (2 perimeters and really close to nothing infill) looks like this:

After a few test prints and reading this thread, I found out that not the Retraction is the problem, but restart "re retraction" is. There was a big gap missing on the second perimeter, and the surface perimeter was not able to stick. It is littlebit better on 0.2mm STRUCTURAL profile, because the surface perimeter is printed slower so it can bridge the gap a little, but still there is a big gap on the second perimeter for the default input shaping profile.

On my test pieces I played with:

  • Retraction length, lowering as low as 1.1, but it just introduced stringing. So I went back to 2.0 and then all the way back to default 2.5
  • Wipe did something, but the end result looks like two seams side by side, so switch it back again
  • Gamechanger was extra length on restart. I did 0.3 and imidiettely semm was filled correctly without gap

My final settings are default 2.0 SPEED with "extra length on restart" feature changed from 0 to 0.4. And with these settings, I am happy to do fast prints.

Also use of 3 perimeters is good idea, but it will slower the print time.
