RE: Does it affect modified Mini+ with Direct Drive?
What retract distance/speed did you change from/to ?
I run it since yesterday on a Prusa mini with direct drive. I only change my values for retract distance and retract speed and thats all. The steps for extruder are already changed in the hidden option from the prusa mini.
The prints are 40% faster and looks very great.
RE: Does it affect modified Mini+ with Direct Drive?
In my case I went from M900 K0.04 to M572 S0.01. So comment out M900 commands in your filament and put M572 S0.01 as a safe bet. Ideally run some calibration model tests.
RE: Does it affect modified Mini+ with Direct Drive?
I decided to start from scratch with the Mini Input shaper profiles and that seemed to do the trick. Since I am using the sherpa mini LDO DD and the revo micro, the only settings I adjusted that were different from the Mini Input Shaper printer profile and the Generic PETG/PLA profiles was Z Offset(so I don't have to manually re-adjust between petg/pla), added the required load/unload filament length and extruder motor current required for my DD, retraction length to 1 as specified by my DD's installation instructions and the Custom Filament G Code as specified by the DD instructions( M900 K0.05). Everything else is default. I'm hoping TPU will be the same but I will play with that later.

Hi all!
I am also on the journey of installing a DD extruder, in my case I opted for the TBGS from TriangleLab. I've been struggling to get some decent prints and I couldn't figure out why, nothing improved during my test for the perfect LA value.
It would be wonderful if who has their DD working could share there profiles so I have a better baseline to work with my extruder. More likely I will need just to adjust the input shaper values (M572)
Thanks all.
RE: Does it affect modified Mini+ with Direct Drive?
Have you tried using the default Input Shaper MINI profiles without adjusting anything? If you have configuration instructions that came with your DD installation such as motor current values, try only adjusting those. That's what I did and it seemed to have worked. Cut my 15 hour prints down to 6.

I have and no result, anyway I’ll try to calibrate the printer with the default extruder and then install back the DD and start over step by step.
I am interested in others profiles because how these prints looks, it seems to me that I am missing a some settings that doesn’t regard with motor current and or steps.
RE: Does it affect modified Mini+ with Direct Drive?
hey!
I’ve been working on the printer calibration and settings and everything. Also I started fresh with the original profiles to check things from a clean state.
Finally I made it work! Now I print nicely with PLA and PTEG!
Anyhow I am struggling to print TPU, the gears just jump trying to push the filament and it does not go through the extruder. I am not sure what could be producing the jams now, even with the Bowden system I was able to print decently tuning the flow factor each print.
RE: Does it affect modified Mini+ with Direct Drive?
That's great news! Glad you got it working! I haven't actually attempted to print TPU with IS speeds, mostly because TPU needs to be printed slow anyway. I'd just continue printing with a regular working TPU profile.

RE:
I just got an update!
I think I found the issue and it wasn't straight forward, I was blaming either the extruder or profiles or the filament... and it was actually a PTFE tube.
What?? yes a PTFE tube, let me explain this.
I was seen the filament getting jam all the time, after the first print where I manage to print some layer properly before the first jam.
The estrange pattern I notice in the filament each time I was unloading it is a wave pattern periodic every time the extruder gears jump. And then I realice it was happening at a distance below the extruder gears actually. Then it was when a hunch started to come up in my mind, the bending of the filament it is happening after the gears are pushing it so it needs to be something else.
I just dismounted the extruder to notice that in my modified mounting for sherpa/TBGS extruder the path between the PTFE tube fitting nut and the extruder does not have a PTFE tube to guide the filament. This does not affect PLA or PETG because they are rigid enough to push through the hotend.
On the other hand I remembered the hotend PTFE tube was a bit melted and so it got shorted, making room to move up enough to allow the filament to melt in a chamber before it goes to the nozzle and therefore getting stuck.
In conclusion I replaced the hotend PTFE tube and add one after the extruder and before the PTFE tube fitting nut.
AND IT SEEMS TO WORK NOW!!!
RE: Does it affect modified Mini+ with Direct Drive?
Hi, I am facing the exact same problem, could you please share your setup? or preferably a Prusaslicer profile would help me a lot.
RE: Does it affect modified Mini+ with Direct Drive?
What problem do you have specifically? There's several aspects to the DD conversion that have been discussed here.
