Why am I getting these waves in a vase mode print?
Hi!
I'm printing this in vase mode (PrusaSlicer) and it should be a straight square. But I get these periodic waves on all 4 sides of it.
Do you have any suggestions on how to fix this? My thought is that is must have something to do with the print cooling, but not sure what exactly.
I'm using a stock Prusa Mini+ and Prusament PLA.

I've been watching your post because I was curious what suggestions people would have, but as no one answered (yet) I'm going to pitch in.
I've had this issue with larger vase mode and thin-walled prints. My intuition is that playing with printing temperature and the part cooling fan might help, but I've had only partial success this way. I'd also love some insight from someone that has experience with this issue.
Here are some instances of that happening on my end.
That was with a ~1mm thick wall:
And this is a true vase mode print. Many of the triangle faces curve inward. In this photo it is more apparent on the lower faces but many of the upper faces exhibit this issue also.

Hey! All of the answers that I got over at reddit were:
- Make the walls ticker
- Add some structure to those walls
Didn't get to test it yet...

Have you tried increasing the extrusion width to make the walls thicker?

no I have not. I use a 0.4 nozzle, what extrusion width would you suggest? The default in PrusaSlicer seems to be set to 0.45mm.

I have used 0.8mm extrusion width with a 0.4mm nozzle with good results.
