Timberfill on Prusa MINI
Hi,
I'm trying to print with wood filament on my MINI+, but i have lots of clogs and jams. I'm using 0.6mm brass nozzle from E3D.
I started with standard PLA settings, than I lowered the temperature (from 210 to 180 in 10°C steps) and change some filament settings, but I only able to print for a while and than it stops.
I also tried to print faster, to be able to put more plastic in the extruder and reduce the possibility for a jam. Does it make sense?
Does someone printed with wood Tinberfill on the Prusa MINI? I have seen that the nozzle temperature for the Timberfill is very low, but the MINI does not print lower than 170°C, I wondering if it is a heat creep problem, caused by high temperature.

I haven't used this particular brand but have printed many things with other wood filaments (Eryone, Protopasta, etc) with 0.6mm nozzle just fine. Instinctively I'd go UP with the temperature to avoid clogging. The downside of course is you'll get more stringing but at least you can take care of that with post-processing. I don't know about Timberfill but most wood filaments string like hell—comes with the territory. Maybe print a temp tower to see if there's a temperature that doesn't clog the printer and has low stringing. Make sure you use a temp tower like this ( https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/39810) that starts with high temperature, to not clog the printer right away.

I havo no issue with stringing. I use the setting to avoid crossing perimeters and the sequential printing. so the stringing is not a problem.
I'll try go UP in temperature and see the result.

Keep us posted. I'd say 170 is very low for any PLA.

Hi,
I tried your temp tower with PLA and 0.6 nozzle settings. Here is the result...
Tomorrow I'll try to edit the 3mf file with different temperatures and retraction.

That sure looks--interesting 😬 Doesn't look like a temperature issue to me, or retraction related. I'm wondering... can you print other (non-wood) filament okay with this nozzle?

In the last days I tried different settings in speed and temperature. Then I ordered another o.60 mm nozzle to try it out on another Prusa MINI. With the new nozzle I had no problem... So I disassembled the old nozzle and I figured out that was a 0.40 mm... I labeled it a while ago as 0.60 mm, and I didn't realized that it was the wronge diamenter.
I replaced with a real 0.60mm nozzle from E3D and now I have no issue at all. Thank you very much for the support and the advices on printing with wood.
I was completely my fault... The next time I will check immidiately the nozzle diameter 🙂

Glad it was such an easy fix. Stuff like this has happened to the best of us 🙂 I for one am notorious for trying to print PETG with PLA settings… Similar results.
