Spidermaker filament too soft for extruder?
I purchased a few rolls of spidermaker filament and found that the extruder keeps slipping on the very soft filament. I have completely taken apart the extruder, cleaned with a wire brush and tried again. Same thing happens. I have tried two different rolls of the spidermaker filament and get the same results with both.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I might remedy the situation?
Thanks.

I had a similar experience. It looks fantastic in the pics, but it's tricky to use. The stuff is almost waxy. I now view it as a specialty filament like flex, not a 1:1 drop-in replacement for normal PLA.

Interesting. Yeah, it almost feels like it is made of soap. All of the reviews go on about how it prints beautifully at a wide range of temps and settings. Maybe it is just a bad match for the extruder the mini uses?
I did find that printing at >= 215 degrees helped a bit but you can tell it is still slipping and print quality suffers a lot. then eventually enough waxy shavings are in the extruder that it stops gripping completely.

I think it's one of those filaments that you can get great results with it if you're willing to spend the time and money doing a lot of test prints. The finish is very nice (potentially). It's like those nice ColorFabb or ProtoPasta filaments that cost $50/Kg+. Gorgeous, but not something I'm likely to use a lot of.

No, it doesnt have to be PLA -- I will try anything that is moderately easy to use.

I really like a variety. I would prefer to do most of my prints in matte

Have you tried Polymaker PolyTerra?
Or Eryone Matte?
Those are two I have tried and they are relatively easy to print. Polymaker is widely available and comes in lots of colors.

I've got some spools of add:north's Textura architectural filaments, but haven't been able to test them yet. Definitely pricey, but possibly worth it for some projects.

Looks cool - but definitely pricey and more so once I would ship to the states.

Finally found a matte filament that works well for me
Just a followup in case others find this thread -- PolyMaker PolyTerra PLA has been printing beautifully from my mini. The print quality exceeds what I have been able to achieve with any other matte pla. It isnt quite as fully matte as Overture Matte PLA, but it is close.

It is very sticky to the plate. It is pretty matte, but you are correct.
