Quick solution to not get residual colors from previous colors of filaments?

Hello!

I print main PETG and wonder if there is a quick solution to not get residual colors from previous colors of filaments. Yesterday I reprinted a part 5 times as there were remnants of black in the part that would be yellow. After 6 hours, do you think the black should be gone? I understand that you can certainly take apart and clean but for me it is not sustainable as I get orders every day and it would be too time consuming.

Usually, when I go from lighter to darker colors or change filament types, I run 4 or 5 purge cycles after loading the filament.

Or run a good length of cleaning filament (on amazon) through your printer. A bit easier on the Mk3S than on the Mini though.

And obviously cold pulls, but again, on the Mini it means removing the Bowden tube. On my machines, I replaced the stock brass fittings with PC4 connectors, makes it a bit easier.

But I usually find running a few purge cycles does a perfect job.

Oh, and make sure you clean your print head and nozzle with a soft wire brush, to make sure there's no gunk sticking to it that later on may fall off.

Thank you again for the tips fuchsr! Yes I did a lot of purging before my first print, but 6 hours of extra printing is a lot of purging. I will defently buy a brush right now to start with. Cold pulls and cleaning filament seems like a good idea but might be to time consuming for me in this case 🙂

Hey, a couple of purge cycles with cleaner filament sure beats 6 hours of a failed print 😃

Hehe, yes I will for sure not do that again, printed the same part 5 times and tough every time now the remains from black must be gone... 🤣

Im thinking I will get a extra printer for my lighter color filaments instead

Stray filaments on the heatblock?

Are there perhaps stray filament on the heatblock that slowly drips off/catches someplace?

I usually ourge 3 times when swapping filaments, if going from black/dark to light i usually up the temp +15c or so, then "move axis E" about 100mm after the swap.

Thanks for your reply, yes that could be the case, now I only printed black and I did get a extra mini so that solved my problem and hoppfully  don't need to swap between bright and dark filament in the same printer. But if I have to I will have a extra look at the heat block .
