Problems with filament change

Is it possible to prevent the printer from immediately resuming printing the object at each filament change (after purging)?
Sometimes i can't clean the nozzle before the printer prints on the object and this leads to problems, trailing strings or lumps of filament.

It would be useful to have the printer print a strip of filament, as at every print start, outside the print area.

RE: Problems with filament change

The answer to your question is no.  You can't do that.  To do so you'd need a purge block and unless you have an MMU it's a waste of filament.  Even with an MMU it's a waste of filament, but it's necessary.

I keep a pair of tweezers next to my printer so that when I do a color change I can grip the filament during the purge and pull it away when the head moves to continue with the print.
