PLA on smooth sheet is OK, but PETG on the textured sheet will not lay down a clean first layer.

Hi all, thanks in advance for any help!

The title says it all, I've had my Mini+ for a few weeks now, and printed many PLA prints on the smooth bed without any issues at all.  I've used a variety of PLA suppliers, and all have worked without issue.

I'm now trying to print with PETG, using Pusament PETG Jet Black 2Kg on the textured surface, and I cannot get proper bed adhesion at all, I seem to get the same results each time (doesn't matter which model):

  1. The initial purge line looks OK.
  2. The brim appears to lay OK.
  3. With the sudden movement of the head to start the skirt, the brim lifts.
  4. The brim then appears to print mostly OK, with tiny pieces lifting here and there.
  5. Finally when the main body of the print starts it all goes wrong, sometimes it sticks, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it appears to be extruding directly onto the outside of the nozzle rather than onto the plate.

I have run through the calibration several times, and all appears to be fine.  If I use the live Z-adjust I just see the problem move from place to place, almost like the plate is deformed or Z-leveling has not worked.

I'm slicing using PrusaSlicer 2.6.0, using the default Prusament PETG settings for on a 0.20 Quality setting.  The only adjustment is 4mm of skirt with 0.0mm separation from the model.

Is this a byproduct of using the textured plate and fine detail?  Do I need to buy a satin plate?

This is what I'm seeing:

At the bottom center and bottom right you can see where the initial brim has detached after laying OK.  The blank area that is circled shoujld have the same triangular pattern as seen on the rest of the plate.  The section of the skirt that is circled is lifting up, and the final circle at the top shows the PETG that is already peeled from the hot plate.

Are you aware that you need a different z setting for each sheet?  You add sheets then do a brand new s. Those 2 sheets are something like .3 mm different. Textured sheet and petg works well. If your textured is new you might need to scrub with sponge a nd soap to get of film.

Thanks, I did reset the Z height for the new plate, but I didn't realise the plate had a film coating, I'll give it scrub and try again.

Thanks for the help, a soapy scrub of the plate worked wonders!
