nozzle dirty?
Hi there,
I use a Mini since 1 month, the MK3S since more than one year. We are talking PLA - Prusament. Previously it worked well. I might have used cheap material before. I also cleaned the material transport with air and a brush. The MK3S work better with the not perfectly produced PLA is my impression. But what could be the case - temperature too low, still dirty bowden system?
Help would be appreciated
Stefan

RE: nozzle dirty?
Not sure what specific problems you're referring to with the picture. There's a bunch of things that look suboptimal. You said it worked before, so I assume the filament is not at fault. Could be wrong temperature -- you can run one of the many temp towers on Prusaprinters.org to find the best temperature (although in my hands Prusament seems quite forgiving and does well over pretty much the whole PLA temperature spectrum). Cold pulls to get the nozzle clean. And I'd try a different nozzle to see if whatever problems you might have persist. If the filament is old and has absorbed moisture, that can cause problems; you can bake it for a few hours. I have had less than a handful of issues with old filament, though, and in each case it was a spool that was at least a year old.

RE: nozzle dirty?
thanks for your help. I believe the main reason is the filament transport - you can hardly get the old material out of there (see picture). It is not like the MK3S with the Bondtech gear. Filament should be ok. Maybe the room temperatur is too low - sometimes 16 degrees Celsius. I will print the temperature tower and follow your other hints ...

RE: nozzle dirty?
If you think it's related to the extruder, you may want to invest into a Bondtech dual drive extruder. I have the Trianglelab clone of it, and it works well. But then again, I didn't have any issues with the original either...
