Keep from printing longways?

Hello, I'm trying to print this Macbook stand and I don't like how its printing longways on the side rings. Can I adjust settings so it prints "side to side" rather than "long ways"? thanks.

Could you please save the prusa slicer session as a Project file,  then zip compress the project file (.3mf file) nd then attach the zip file to your next post, and we can have a look to see why this option doesn't work for you

RE: Keep from printing longways?

Hi,

thanks for adding the project file,

I can see now that the cross section of the model is sloped downwards, towards the outside of the model
what this does is to cause a lot of strata to be displayed by the slicer as you can see in the image below

You can try reducing the layer height in this region, by using variable layer height with smaller layers, this will cause more layer lines but they will all be less obvious.
or consider changing the orientation of the model, however with a Prusa Mini, you are limited in options, due to the small printable volume.

In this position the stand is largely self supporting (nearly 45degrees) and only needs supports to stop it falling over
there will still be 4 areas where the layer lines are prominent they are the tops of the lower curves and the tops of the upper corners, I Suspect these will be near enough invisible

I Have recently done this for some difficult parts for my Laser cutter.
the supports came off really easily.

another option is to sand the lines off, after printing, then using a gas torch to 'flash' the surface to restore filament colour

I have used a 'creme brulee' torch, or a 'Turbo' kitchen lighter (Both have a fierce blue flame)  to do this
the gas lighters with the quiet yellow flame will cause soot to deposit on the model

interesting, thanks for all the advice Joan! I don't have a "creme brulee" torch in my toolbox but now I want one!
