Bad printing quality, strange bumps and long thick strings?
Hello!
I have 2 thoughts regarding print quality. I have printed with PETG with quality 0.2 settings.
In picture 1 (black box) I do not know what happened, long thick threads a bit here and there. These are thin walls, does PETG not work well for that?
In picture 3 (black battery holder) , there is a small bump that seems to accompany each layer. It is often recurring in different prints with round design and seems to occur where the change to the next layer takes place.
In picture 2 (white box) For comparison, same box printed on a cheap Flashforge printer, and it printed these prints much better, but in PLA.
Anyone know what it could be due to?

I don't really know but all I can say is that my experience with PETG is quite similar to yours. I had a small commission job and I thought of printing the required parts in PETG but every time it was printed it stringed ALOT. But I decided to switch back to PLA and the print went flawlessly, with no stringing. Soo also that's a reason I like PLA more than any other material. It's easy, cheap and you don't need special equipment for it.

Yes pla is very easy to print, in my case I got a tip that my wall thickness was wrong and that solved my problem, 0,5 was not a correct number with a 0,4 nossle. Because pla is easier to print I worked with 0,5. I changed my walls to 0,8 and the print got perfect PETG. Have now printed PETG for many hours and I works very good. Yes some stringing depending on the model but its easy to take of 🙂

Oh nice, maybe I should try that too with a test print if it also stops the huuuge stringing!

yes, it's really worth a try 🙂
