Z-Axis Parking During Filament Load Can Over-Travel
I am not sure how many people have experienced this, but after a taller print or adjusting the Z-axis upward, the filament load function can cause the Z-screw to continue past the upper limit. I had to shut my printer off and manually screw the z-screw down to stop it from causing any damage (which I hope wasn't incurred during the move).
New firmware update please!

Hi,
try please search over the forum, this issue has been explained here (including myself) several times. It has to do with z-position information after printer switch on. Should you recognise before Filament load the head is to high, execute first the Calibration-> Homing command.

I appreciate it. I couldn't seem to find it in the forum at first, but that helps. I assumed it could be possible for the z-position to be logged and the board could recognize how many steps are available before topping out or simply perform the purge in place since the carriage is already well-above the print surface.
Feel free to remove thread if it has been addressed.

You can anytime manualy (forcing) move the head in any direction - there is not other distance measurement, but the steps from Home position, So when you start any print the head has to go first Home and then measuring the steps number it calculates the current position.
The same happenss, when you get crash, so the head missed some steps. The printer remembers at which posiion the crash happened - it moves first to the home position and then "walking" to the last known position before crash, where it starts printing.
In other words, any missed/bypassed step not recognized by the printer will create a marvelous model deformation.
