When to get a new hotend?

My hotend has filament stuck in it and cold pulls arnt getting it out. See below photos.

I recently changed the nozzle, when doing so I got a runaway heat error due to the wrench taking heat away from the hot end. Afterputting the nozzle on there was too much space and the nozzle clogged. So I did some cold pulls, and then readjusted the nozzle to be closer to the printer. I didnt get the nozzle far up enough however since filament was still leaking from the hotend and causing stinging. Below are photos post print.

The second photo I think shows the leaking problem the best as I cleaned the nozzle before printing. Before adjusting the nozzle again I did a cold pull, but I couldnt get all the filament out with a cold pull. You can see that in the following photo which has black filament sticking out with white filament inserted (Cold pulling the white filament did not get rid of the additional filament).

After seeing this I followed this prusa guide on removing a clog and performed a cold pull without the PTFE Tube, unfortunately that didn't get the filament out of the hotend tube, I tried a few times with no luck. Do I just need to get a new hotend?

Your nozzle is not inserted correctly. Pay particular attention to the diagrams at the bottom of this page:

(and I suspect your filament is damp as well, use dry filament for the following.)

Heat the hotend to printing temperatures for whichever is the hottest-printing filament you use, remove the nozzle as in the page linked above and then manually push filament through the pathway until it comes out cleanly; then push another 20cm through. If it doesn't flow easily then try a cold pull - your white filament will make it easier to see if there are still fragments included.

Cheerio,

Pictures did not show up in post here they are:

Photos 1 and 2 of filament in the tube:

Pictures 3 and 4 of my nozzle after printing

Picture 5 of filament stuck sticking out of the top of the extruder

Thanks for the reply, I thought I had the proper gap, but I suppose I dont have the nozzle up enough after checking again. I'll give that a try. Yeah, the filament is most definitely wet, I am looking into drying solutions currently.

Thanks again

I fixed the nozzle and things seem to be running smoothly! Now to re-calibrate the first layer...
