USB sticks not recognized anymore

My Prusa Mini 3D is not recognizing my USB stick anymore.  It's formatted in FAT32 and can be loaded on my multiple laptops -- but the Mini is not recognizing it anymore.  When I boot it (and reboot it) it says "No USB" on the screen.

Any ideas?  I have reformatted it as FAT32 on a Windows machine.  I've used the same USB stick to upgrade it to 4.1 firmware.

I've also tried another 32 GIB USB-2 flash drive -- no luck.  🙁

randito has tried another USB stick, so it may not be that.

If you don't want to buy a third USB stick to try then I would recommend contacting Prusa Support via the chat feature on the Prusa e-shop page as it sounds like you may have a dodgy USB port.

Thanks for the replies everyone.  I tried a couple of USB sticks and found one that did.  A brand-new 32G USB3 didn't work but the smaller 16GB USB2 did.   The cool one that came with the printer isn't working anymore.

Here's the one that's working for me.  16GB USB2 (not an affiliate link)
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007YX9O9O

I have noticed that this one is significantly faster than the included one.  Perhaps, it was on the "edge" of not working.  Either way, I'm back to printing again.

Sorry for the freak-out.

Agreed.  It's working for now but I will keep an eye on it.

RE:

Note that another option might be that the actual port itself might be broken. In my case, the little bit of plastic inside had broken off. Don't know about you, but I've never experienced that with any USB port, ever.

Prusa told me it wasn't covered by the warranty because of their 'normal usage' clause (!), i.e. it was expected wear and tear. It certainly beggars my belief.

Going forwards, when I've replaced the mainboard to get a a working USB port again, I'll make sure I just use a USB extension cable to minimise the 'wear and tear' on what is presumably a low quality part on that board.

Make sure the disk is formatted as MBR and not GPT.  You can do this by opening a command prompt and using

diskpart (which will enter a diskpart prompt)

list disk

select disk x (where x is your USB.  Don't screw this up.)

convert mbr (This will erase the disk.)

Thanks so much for this. I was almost going mad because my  stick wouldn't work anymore after I used it for a linux install.

You forgot one small step though.

select disk x (where x is your USB.  Don't screw this up.)

After this step you have to use

clean

before you can convert to mbr
