Updating firmware issue on early Mini and Prusa slicer 2.4.2 issue
I currently own three Minis, one is an early model, the other two have the injected molded frame. After updating my prusa slicer to 2.4.2, I noticed the mini's were parking their print heads on the bed after prints. The solution was to update the firmware on the printers. My early model mini however will not boot the firmware from the USB. I have tried reformatting, using the same USB to load firmware to the other printers, tried a factory reset, and the boot force using the selector knob (double click). Customer support says I need to replace the buddy board in order to update the firmware. Maybe someone has a suggestion or insight? The printer works fine, I would like to use the most recent version of Prusa slicer for all of my printers.

Try different USB sticks, but my early Mini updates fine so far with the latest firmware. Maybe customer service has a point. They have had the right answers each time I have contacted them. Does it run a self test OK?
I would guess there is some kind of JTAG on the buddy board to load it. It has to be programmed at the factory and has to have the bootloader programmed. Has anyone outside of Prusa used that?

Mark

Let us talk about MINI not Slicer. 😉
So few questions:
- From which FW version to which version you cannot update?
- Wat is your board version? Info-> Version info
- can you load the FW backwards - update to your original version by Force update- pushing the knob?
- did you do any changes to your printer?
- FW load to the other printers succeded?
even an old man can learn new things 🙂

Tried different USB sticks, no issues with the self test.

I had no issues with the firmware update on the other two mini's. The mini with the issue was version 4.2.1-final+2072 (updated previously). Boot loader version 1.0.0, buddy board 1.0.4. The printer is completely stock.
