Just user Pronterface:) The Mini can receive G-code obviously. It can't, however, save any settings sent via G-code to EEPROM (M500).

Well, I have just read patch notes again and there's written now that PID tuning values are being stored in EEPROM permanently, along with Live-Z. Was it there all the time, or was there only Live-Z originally mentioned as stored in EEPROM? https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware-Buddy/releases/tag/v4.0.5

Hu, looks like your right. I guess you can test by applying PID's, restarting the printer and reading them back to see if they were stored.

So I took have many issues with my Prusa mini after several great weeks of  printing. I tried all the things that everyone mentioned with no sucess and I finally ordered the Bondtech Heatbreak. I am hoping that this will solve my issues. As I wait for it, I have some newbie questions. What exactly are the PID values and why do they need to be adjusted for the Bondtech Heatbreak ?

@kevman

With regards to 3D printing, it essentially boils down to "how much current is needed to raise and maintain desired temperature, as accurately as possible". Allow me to link to Michael from Teaching Tech to explain:

Tried it... did the M301 and saved it with M500, the values were there after readout with M503, but they did not survive the reset 😕

Thank you for this. Is there a guide for Prusa Mini to read these and set these values ?

@kevman

I was asking the same question last week  Connect MINI to computer via micro USB port and run some control program like Pronterface. You may need to install drivers from https://www.prusa3d.com/drivers/ if your computer does not recognize printer. The full driver and app package for MINI contains everything you need.

So I replaced my heatbreak with the bondtech....and still having the same problem. after abotu 24 mins into a print it started clicking and randomly skipping layers....what next folks ?

EDIT: I'll try rebuilding the whole hot end again tommorow when I am less frustrated lol.

So I made a critical mistake when installing the Bondtech, I didn't heat up the hot  end to 285 when I tigthend the nozzle up, maybe this what caused my issue? I will give this a try tommorow, buit I think I need a new heater block, the thread have PLA on them and I can't get the heatbreak to screw in.

so I've rebuilt the hot end several times now. This time with a new heater block and new bondtech heat break , added thermal paste and did everything by the book. Same exact issues. A print will get about mid way through and start clicked and jam. I am at a loss for how unreliable this printer has become and I don't know what to do next. Any advice is welcome.

@kevman

I had an interesting development recently that had me thinking "here we go again." I've swapped the heat break and extruder for the Bondtech setup and had been printing successfully ever since. I swapped filament to a roll of prusament's Pearl Mouse and immediately got the same behaviors that this thread describes. 4 failed prints later, I bit the bullet and did a dissasembly of the hot end and found....nothing! Everything was pristine. No leaking between the PTFE tube and heat break, no deformation of the PTFE tube, no nozzle clog. I did see some filament grinding on the extruder teeth, which I cleaned off. Switched filament and everything printed great. There is something weird with the roll of Prusament Pearl Mouse that I got. Have you tried other filament?

Also, as a PSA for others with the bondtech setup. While I was trying to fix the issue above, I cranked down the tension knob on the Bondtech extruder. The result was that the extruder is strong enough to push the brass collet off of the tube connecting the extruder to the hot end, completely ruining it.  It is what cause the issue I posted about here:
https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/hardware-firmware-and-software-help/how-to-fix-this-ptfe-tube/

It is probably better to not do that 🙂

Steven , I've tried all different rolls  of Prusament PLA ( silver mouse , black galay, mystic brown) so far all pretty much with the same result. I have Prusament PTEG but I am hesitant to try that without resolving this issue first. Is it worth trying the PTEG to see if it makes a difference ?

makes me wonder if it has something to do with filament that has pearl or particles in it.

How do I get the results? I run it as a print and see the temperature cycling, but I don’t see any values displayed.

I created a file with the single command M303 C8 D S210 and saved it as gcode.  I then used it like a print to run it. How can I get the results from it?

@whmacintosh

You need to run that from a console, like in Printerface or Octoprint.

@geoper2

I'm with you on this.  I've had nothing but problems with my printer.  Tech support just can't face the fact that there is truly something wrong.  My son is a ME and has the original Prusa and recommended the mini for my needs.  He can't fix this and he can fix anything.

I just ordered a Mini.   This thread is giving me an ulcer.  Hopefully these are isolated or perhaps early production run issues?
