Thermal Runaway starting to happen

I got my Mini's around December, and haven't had any major problems with them (aside from underextrusion, that I solved with some filament path clearing and the grub screw fix) but I'm now starting to get concerning errors about thermal runaway (and a lovely burning smell). Turns out my extruder got as hot as 270 before shutting off, and I'm unable to troubleshoot any loose thermosistor wires, or connections. What's the deal here?

In general, the thermistor supplies temperature-dependent values for the PID control to the printer board, this is evaluated via a table and thus the heating is controlled. If there is a malfunction in the connecting lines or one of the elements responsible for the heating (cable break, loose contact or other error), such malfunction can occur. I would check these components conscientiously and contact the Prusachat if necessary.

Hello.  I am having the same problem with my Mini+ . The printer seems to be having problems controlling the temperature of the hot end. Starts to prnt but usually fails during the first or second layer wheen a thermal runaway message appears. The thermistor is obviously working a lot of the time but perhaps when it gets hot there is an intermittent connection?  Needs more investigation but has anyone else had the same problem

RE: Thermal Runaway starting to happen

thermal runaway is when the hot end doesn't heat up as fast as expected, could be a power problem, could be an intermittent open circuit in the hot end heater wiring, maybe a loose connection on the Buddy Board, Maybe a heater wire work fatigue crack, through constant flexing

could be the thermistor or heater have become detached from the heat block

Thermistor issues are normally
Mintemp error, (thermistor circuit open circuit),
Maxtemp error, (thermistor circuit short circuit).
