Prusa mini won’t load or feed filament
Just got and built a prusa mini+ and when I try to feed the filament it doesn’t go in it looks like the extruder just can’t get a grip on the filament any suggestions?
RE: Prusa mini won’t load or feed filament
Two things immediately come to mind:
1. Did you cut the end of the filament at a 45 degrees angle? If not, it may have a hard time getting into the extruder.
2. Did you try tightening or loosening the idler screw? If it's too tight, the filament path is blocked. If it's too loose, the gears can't grip the filament.

I had the same problem when I first got my mini and it was just me not realizing you have to push gently on the filament during the loading process.
RE: Prusa mini won’t load or feed filament
I have cut mine to 45 and it still wont feed, it seems to stop at the entry. To unload, I apply a stro ng ull and the feed in tubing came out, and I realised this was caused by the filament being widened at the gear side and it was to wide to come though the tubing, h4nce it came out.
Assistance is required to resolve this as I have run 1 test print (OK) and tried the second one after building it. Less trhan 1 hour old.??
RE: Prusa mini won’t load or feed filament
I had the exact same problem on my Mini+ when I got it. After an hour or so of frustration, I pulled apart the extruder and found that the grub screw that holds the pinion gear on the stepper motor hadn't be tightened at the factory, so the stepper motor shaft was spinning freely on the pinion.

I gather that the 4 screws on the extrusion block have to be reoved to access that grubby screw?

It's not uncommon that screw can get loose during transit. I usually go around the printer and tighten everything on a new machine.

RE: Prusa mini won’t load or feed filament
I'm having the same problem. I've been printing everyday for almost a year and this has happened once before and all I did was try different filaments which eventually worked. Helping push the filament doesn't work, it feels like it jams against something just after it begins to feed. I cut the filament at a 45.
This time I have also tried playing with the tension screw. Any other thoughts?

Hi,
After almost a year, the same issue appears. when I try to load it, it begins to feed and block where I draw the yellow circle in the extruder.
any idea to solve it?
