Prusa Mini+ resets while printing
Hi,
Recently the printer started to randomly reset/reboot during print, or during bed leveling process in some occasions. The print stops suddenly and the MINI+ reboots just like somebody had pressed the reset button. There are no error codes or anything I can pin point as the cause.

- latest firmware installed.
- this happens with different gcode files, even failing after successfully printing the same exact file.
- this issue persists when using Octoprint or printing directly from USB.
Any ideas what could cause this?

I have seen this with LCD ribbon cable being loose. Check both ends.

The most common reason for these seems to be a faulty USB stick. So change that to a new one. Next thing to try is a factory reset if changing the USB-memory does not help.
With Octoprint there can be connection problems, reset happens when the mini has waited for something (new data from Octoprint or USB) for fixed amount of seconds (I don't remember the timeout for now, but use the search). For the Octoprint, check the cable.
Maybe you should start with the factory reset.

I've seen this with Octoprint prints. There's a very recent thread somewhere here, where it is suggested to reboot the printer after every print. Doesn't happen often enough for me to do this, though.

Thank you for your reply. I have factory reset the unit and tried printing from 2 other usb flash drives and the problem persists, crashes at different points of the print process. I think it would be highly unlikely that all the USB drives are bad. Will try with a brand new one in the near future.
Found a post regarding a similar issue on the MK3, is it possible to be somewhat related? Although printer was working perfectly until very recently.

Any component that overheats and could possibly cause this issue? Maybe is just coincidence. The other day, I turned on the unit after not using for several hours, and I had a successful print. When trying to print the same exact file a second time, right after the first print, the unit reset itself.

And please tell us what support says as if there's a risk of overheating when printer has been just powered on before printing, at least I would like to know that. I guess its time to start designing active cooling for the electronics.
Check the bed thermistor
Every time I have seen this it has been the bed thermistor.
For some reason the fault asserts but it is not reported correctly. The machine just resets.
Move the bed back and forth very slowly and look for variation in the temperature reported. A hard open in a bad spot will register as -15C. Any variation greater than 2 degrees while in motion is a clue you're close.

Good advice, I had the same issue and when you wobble the Y axis wire to the bed you can see it fluctuate between normal and -15c
currently on the look out for a new thermistor locally (UK) without having to pay 3x's as much in shipping for one from Prusa
FIXED - THERMISTOR REPLACEMENT
Prusa support was very helpful they managed to identify the issue! I have shared a video of a failed print and they noticed a small fluctuation in the bed temperature, happening at random.
After taking apart the thermistor sensor, turned out that the cable was pinched right under the black cover that connects to the bed. This happened probably during assembly and was a matter of time to fail.
After replacing the thermistor printer seam to be working as before.

Great news. reset because of heating would have been bad news. This is a 3D printer creating 100+ Centigrade temperatures, so overheating would have been a real failure.
Now that we know this, we have solving procedure like this if resets occur:
- Verify USB-memory, try with a different, preferably a brand new one.
- If that did not help or you are using octoprint, check the cabling between your raspberry pi and mini, try another one. Check the connectors on cable and printer.
- Take a video of your print so that the Mini's display shows up. Monitor bed and nozzle temperatures. Any sudden fluctuations in either? Replace the blinking sensor with cables.
