Prusa Mini keeps going on a suicide mission after completing a print - and this last one has left some damage
I am at my remote office today, but I will upload photos tonight.
Essentially - I have been experiencing an issue lately where after my Prusa Mini completes a print, it parks itself lower than the print itself. This has been happening for about a month (and was previously running swimmingly for 2 years). Thankfully, it has missed the print (barely) the past times its occurred. I did research and was recommended to upgrade the firmware - which I did. I since added on a Revo Micro, and bondtech extruder. These were also performing great for about 2 weeks. Well, last night I printed a small model (2.5 inches tall) and when I came back to the print, my print head was sitting on top of the 3d print - and the assembly had significant pressure. I raised the z axis quickly and released the pressure - but the print itself was smooshed and had been melted in spots. I cleaned things up, reran all of the test procedures (axis test, first layer test, etc) - but now the print head seems to be off on the Y axis. At the beginning of a print, when its supposed to purge in a straight line at the edge of the print sheet - it goes right off the sheet onto the table (probably off by a centimeter or two).
I've visual inspected everything, and I don't see any noticeable bending or damage. But something has definitely been messed up.
- How do I get my Prusa mini to stop going on a suicide mission at the end of a print? I'm putting too much money into the printer for it to be constantly messed up by silly issues like this. I'm always importing the STL files directly into my prusa slicer and slicing/exporting to my USB.
- Any ideas how to get the Y axis issue fixed up?
Again, I will take pictures/video tonight. The Prusa Mini has been a great learning platform for me, but it is quickly becoming expensive to maintain

belt tension for Y?
If you have not print tool from printables before installing bondtech, modify m82 325 step to 415 in gcode.
mini+ [bondtech dual drive, revo, reprinted with PA11-CF and ASA] lives in photo tent.

What firmware version are you running on your mini ? There’s a known issue with some of the previous versions that cause it to potentially move downwards after a print when the gcode goes over a certain size. There are existing threads about it.
It was discovered when a Slicer update started producing bigger gcode so initially the slicer got blamed but it’s the mini firmware.

In 4.... versions it should be resolved, unless it is back for a strange reason.
