Printer and Print profile setting linked in Prusaslicer?

Change the nozzle on my PRusa mini and set up new printer and filament profiles to reflect changes I want.  Save the new printer profile.  But if I select it, the print profile goes to a single default option- none of the standard ones are even available to be picked.

Switch the Printer profile back to standard mine- they print profiles (ultradetail, detail, etc) reappear.

?????

I'd like to start with the ultradetail and tweak it?

Why is the printer and print profile so hard linked?  The filament has no effect on the other two settings as far as I can see.

Nobody?  If I take a standard Mk3 Printer profile and change the nozzle size, I can still use the System Preset print settings.  If I save that change in teh nozzle size, I lose access to all the pint setting System Profiles.

There is still a header under "Print Settings" for System Presets, but only Custom presets are available.

When I installed PrusaSlicer, I did set up a printer profile for a Printrbot 1303 that I have.  Does that have anything to do with it?

Kind of a pain that if you just say a smaller nozzle, that you lose all the profiles.  I put a 0.15 on my Mini, so it isn't a huge difference in printers and I wanted the usual profiles to start with, but they aren't there...

Late reply, maybe someone will use this

Same problem here, go to Print Settings > Dependencies (last tab) > Compatible printers condition. The default is as follows for a 0.25 stock profile:

printer_notes=~/.*PRINTER_VENDOR_PRUSA3D.*/ and printer_notes=~/.*PRINTER_MODEL_MINI.*/ and nozzle_diameter[0]==0.25

Deleting this removes all dependancies, just the last part should remove dependancies from nozzle size.

The Print Profile has extrusion widths defined.  For a 'standard' 0.4mm nozzle they are generally 0.45 for perimeters etc.  SO now you define your printer to have a 0.25mm nozzle for example.  That print profile still has extrusion widths of 0.45 defined.  Not generally what you want with a 0.25mm nozzle is it.
So they have the compatible conditions and also the new vendor based dependency tree too.

You can remove those restrictions as 3d_Scenography mentions but then it is your responsibility to make sure that the profile does what you need and not cause you issues.  The Prusa defaults and restrictions are there for lets just say the casual users protection.  If you feel that you have moved beyond that level then you can make whatever changes you want.  Just remember that there are a lot of settings and its not obvious which ones need tweaking.  Have fun.

Dependencies and detaching system presets

Unfortunately, you've run into Prusa's use of dependencies. They use dependencies in their presets to link them to specific printers and filaments. I've got some notes on dependencies and how to work around them here that might be useful.

If there are system presets that you want to use with customized presets, you can select each system profile and detach it to create a copy that you can link to. This will remove the dependencies.

The way PrusaSlicer handles dependencies is a bit rough now. Hopefully they'll improve the interface over time.
