RE: PLA stringing

Much better.  Stringing like that is usually either due damp filament or to printing too hot.

Sometimes it is a symptom of a damaged nozzle - if you scraped the nozzle into the heatbed while setting up for example.

So look up threads here about drying filament.

If that doesn't help, please come back here.

Cheerio,

@mick-3

It is nto you settings.  Like posted above, try drying the filament or adjusting the temperature.

Changed the nozzle now getting blobs and strings at a range of temperatures from 190 - 220. As an engineer I am struggling to understand the logic. Small changes in one variable at a time would be my approach but which one first? I still can't believe it is moisture as both filaments straight out of the packet have produced rubbish results but I will now bake my spools before trying again.

Thanks

@mick-3

Blobs are usually a leak.  Check to see if there is molten plastic leaking between the nozzle and heatblock.

I put the original nozzle back in there is now no gap and no oozing but still blobbing and stringing.

Thanks

Trying to find a suitable temperature tower for the mini any ideas? They all seem to be for the MK3.

Temperature tower

You do not need to have a true tower.

I often use:

https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/26509-retraction-test

or

https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/35313-calibration-cube-test-setting-plus-overhang-print-/files

I just print them over and over until I get the temperature, cooling, and retraction.

Thanks again I will try those after the present print completes which looks much better. The tower I tried to print only printed at 215° even for the 225° first layer, I think you need to modify the g-code to change temp for each layer. The problem during the nozzle change was as you suggested a gap caused by a different length of thread on the nozzle. Changing back to the original I could close the gap fully and eliminate oozing and blobbing. You have been most kind with your time and patience thanks once again I have been a little frustrated to say the least.

I suspect you are correct.

Finally a decent print little or no stringing no blobbing. Retraction set to 3.4 lift 0.15, 0.4 nozzle, 0.15 layer height using Prusament Azure blue.

Many thanks once again to all who helped me get there.

RE: PLA stringing

PLA seems pretty much sorted now, having similar problems with PETG any advise on that front?

Thanks Again.
