No Plastic from Nozzle

So I'm a complete noob to printers.  I ran my printer pretty good for a week doing some big prints.  Right now, I'm having issues with it not putting plastic out of the nozzle, it seems like its not pressing the filament down in there and the extruder is making a clicking noise.  Any help would be appreciated.

what filament?

what temperatures?

can you preheat and unload the filament?, if so, is there a bulge in the end of the filament?
if you can unload the filament, the chances are that there is a thin section where the extruder gears try to move the filament, cut the filament off at an angle, on the spool side of the thin section, and try loading the extruder, again,,,

Its PLA+ from Inland, also their PLA as well.  Running it at 215 on the nozzle and 60 on the bed.  It'll do a few prints and then just stops.  I unload and reload it, and that does it for a bit but then it does it again after a few small prints.

I don't have a Mini.

I believe a number of Mini owners have found that their heatbreaks are set too low in the extruder cooling block.  it might be a good idea to try this. (Also the grub screws in the extruder cooling block are easy to damage, some folk replace them with cap head allen screws!)

my mk2 mmu  is bowden and my mk3 is direct drive.

In both types I have to make sure the PTFE Liner is properly bedded down inside the heatbreak tube and that I reduce the default retract distance.

I find that the extruder clogs if I have a lot of retractions in the detail of the model, it's as if the filament is retracted too far, and begins to harden and when it's deracted the hardened end, blobs out a little making it difficult to pass back into the nozzle

My mk2 MMU has a default retraction of 4mm,  but I generally run it at 2mm, for PLA and PETG

My Mk3's have a default retraction of 0.8mm. I generally run them at 0.4mm retraction for PLA and PETG.

Your Mini has a default retraction of 3.2mm, maybe you could try 2mm retraction.

good luck,

I opened the door over the extractor gear and when it tries to spin and feed it seems like the gear is caught... and when I take out the filament its all ground up where it was in the extractor

How do you adjust the heatbreak? I tried adjusting the idler screw as well to no avail.

There is a good description in this thread https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/general-discussion-announcements-and-releases/avoiding-early-prusa-mini-issues-common-issues/

So my understanding of this is the problem is the metal part where the nozzle attaches to is far away from the heat sink up in the black part and the difference is causing enough change in temperature to start allowing the plastic to re-solidify.  There are 2 fixes to this, either moving the metal part up closer and the sensor along with it OR adjusting the temperature of the nozzle during prints up around 30-40 degrees to compensate?

I would recommend adjusting the position of the heater block if you feel confident. The video describes the process very well. You do need to be a little careful with the three grub screws, there is a risk of damaging them, but using a good quality allen key helps. The MINDA sensor is a separate adjustment. See this guide https://help.prusa3d.com/en/guide/how-to-replace-a-m-i-n-d-a-sensor-mini_115145#116542

I tried loosening those 3 grub screws... They barely turn not even 45 degrees, and my Allen wrench got stuck in them and that scared me even more.  Will watch the video again and will think about it.  Thanks.
