RE: max nozzle size?

According to Prusa slicer, it's 0.8mm.

I haven't gone beyond 0.8 myself but I don't see why you couldn't go to 1 mm (or higher), you'd just have to create your own printer profile.

Check out bobstro's notebook entry for a treasure trove of information on nozzle sizes:

RE: max nozzle size?

Agree in general, but I wonder if that would actually shorten print time. I'm just thinking aloud here...
Mini's hotend has limited thermal capacity and so I doubt it can melt big amount of filament fast enough -at least not high temperature filaments (higher than PLA). Means, speed would need to be reduced.. so where would be the benefit? Similar speed as with 0.8 nozzle and more rough print.
Again, I'm only sharing my thoughts as I never used 1mm nozzle (I prefer 0.4 and 0.6mm).

RE:

Bogdan, totally depends on the model. Again, @bobstro has very good insights in his writeup. Sure, in the end you're going to be limited by Max Volumetric Speed. But on the flip side, you can get significant time savings by lower number of perimeters, less infill, etc. All depends. I have one specific model I print all the time, the 0.8mm nozzle saves me hours per print. And I have seen other models where going to a nozzle larger than 0.4 actually made the print time longer.

And sure, quality with the 0.8 mm nozzle will suffer but you're not going to print miniatures with it, more likely functional models or vases etc. I just printed some vases as Christmas gifts with PVB and the 0.8 mm nozzle, they look like glass.

@fuchsr
Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear enough: my thoughts were about 1mm (or larger) nozzle. Means, I agree, that 0.8mm can be very useful for bigger/functional parts, where printing time is important -and it always is 😉 .
