Inconsistence on Nozzle height

Hello everyone,

It has been months that my mini+ has had this weird inconsistence of nozzle height and I was hoping someone could help me to find the issue.

The inital attempt to print will almost certain have this behaviour where the nozzle height is not correct and the nozzle goes deep into the heatbad steel sheet. You can even see on the video has the PLA gets piled up into the nozzle as there is nowhere to go.

Afer a few reboot of the printer, the nozzle gets the accurate distnace from the sheet and correctly prints.

Hopefully someone can assist me.

Hi

Looks like the SuperPinda sensor is to high or your 1st layer calibration is not correct.

Did you check/adjust the SuperPinda height ? The procedure is described here -> https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/7-preflight-check_204705

Once done you can run again a 1st layer calibration -> https://help.prusa3d.com/article/first-layer-calibration-mini-mini_229122

Factory reset can also help only if you do a 1st layer calibration just after

Keep us posted

Hello @hello. I hanve't tried that option as I wasn't sure that would have any effect. But will give a try later on that.

@jcjames_13009, I did follow both links and also went as far as realigning the axes to make sure nothing was out of order physically. When I perform a full axys test the first print goes well. So it may be something software-wise.

I will attempt to reset it re-calibrate. I will report back when done.
Thanks

ok so after months of tests I have finally solved my issue with installing a new firmware and re-calibrating.

Glad the printer is working at its best this past months.

Mine had inconsistent height originally. The fix was a factory reset followed by re-flashing the firmware (and obviously re-calibrating 1st layer height). Prusa support rep suggested it was a bad firmware flash, and they were right.

FYI Prusa has 24/7 live chat support. I contacted them at 10 PM when my printer wasn't setting the height appropriately, and got the suggested answer of factory reset followed by firmware re-flash.
