Hotend temperature incorrect? - How to check hotend thermistor?
I am looking for a smart way to check the hotend thermistor of my Prusa Mini+ since I believe it does not work correctly.
The room temperature seems okay but I hardly believe the printing temperature is correct.
For a short time the printing (ABS) creates a lot of smell, the prints (ABS) are brittle and when loading the filament smoke exits the nozzle.

I'm not sure how to check if it works properly. Maybe you can use an IR thermometer.
Did you think it is too hot or too cold? Usually the ABS smell badly, regardless to the temperature.
Also it results brittle if cooled to quickly.

What temperature are you printing? Does it print other filaments ok? The Mini will print ABS--I printed up a Voron Trident with it; I had it under the shipping box and IIRC printed at 250C on the hotend.

Thank you for your answer. I already printed about 3 kg ABS without any issue on two other Prusa Printers with a temp of 255C.

But does *this* printer print other filaments ok? Basically, is the issue isolated to the specific filament?

You could measure the internal resistance of the thermistor with a multimeter. At room temperature (25 degrees C.) the value should be about 100 k ohms.

I tested it with PTEG tonight, the result is poor compered to my previous Prusa Mini printer. The surface of the PTEG print is not shiny it is more rough and dull. Both filaments (ABS/PETG) sizzle during the print even after dry box treatment.

It sounds like it might be time to get on with Prusa support.

in the meanwhile, may you post some pictures of the prints with the issues? Sometime an image is worth 1000words 😉

RE: Hotend temperature incorrect? - How to check hotend thermistor?
First of all, many thanks to all who responded to my issue. It seems that I could resolve the issue on my new Prusa Mini+.
I tested the “max” temperature of the hotend, because if there had been an offset of the thermistor, the max temp would not have been reached.
So, I looked closer to the hotend and removed the PTFE hotend tube and readjusted the position of the PTFE hotend tube according to “How to replace a hotend PTFE tube (MINI/MINI+)”.
This seems to have resolved my issue 😊

Thanks for the feedback 👍
happy printing 👍
