First attempt fails, second succeeds. Every time.

I've been having this issue for some time now. If my Mini has been idle for a while, the first print attempt will fail. I get bad bed adhesion for at least part of the first layer. I can see that the adhesion is bad for a certain amount of filament - if there is a large first layer, everything looks good after later in the first layer, but the beginning is a mess. If I stop the print and immediately reprint, everything works perfectly. This happens with a variety of filaments, and it happens even after a filament purge. It happens with new filament or old. This does NOT happen with my other Mini, which is in the exact same environment. Any ideas on what to try next?

Before I start a first print, I always preheat the printing plate to operating temperature for 10-15 minutes so that the heat is spread evenly and thus improves adhesion.

A precondition for good adhesion is, of course, a clean, plane and well leveled printing plate and a correctly calibrated Z-Adjust.

Thanks. I had the same thought. I've tried preheating the plate first, and it doesn't seem to help. Also, it's not necessary with the other printer. But I haven't ruled out that it's due to uneven heating, either. I have tried thoroughly cleaning the plate, and I've re-adjusted Z height. Also, a second print immediately after works fine, so I've ruled out those two as factors.
