Different extruder

With a few "no name" filaments I had problem that my extruder cut too hard into the filament, until it's width was so thin it couldn't be further fed into hotend.
Clearly the gear with teeth is pushing hard against the filament, so I loosened the spring thingy, but that didn't help.

After some digging on the net I though that it might be good idea to use Dual Gear Extruder. I also like the aluminum body.

Anyway, the problem I'm facing now is that it's gear is smaller than the gear in the original MINI+, so when I try to print it extrudes too much filament.

I'm guessing this can be fixed in Slicer settings (I'm using PrusaSlicer). Does anyone know where? Also what values should I use? I'm thinkng that I can compare the tooth count to get something like gear ratio and use that value to change some settings?

Assuming it can be fixed by changing few values in slicer, I'm also facing problem with the firmware itself, because when you swap filaments it's cleaning up the hotend by extruding some filament to wipe the previous one and the amount of extrusion is also calculated with original gears.

This would most likely need change in the firmware itself (or is there also settings for that? I didn't find it 🙁 ). Prusa has it's firmware available on Github with build tutorial so I think I should be able to build and flash it, but I have no clue where to fix/change my values

Any help is much appreciated!

Thank you

You don't need to change the firmware.

Go to LCD Menu -> Settings -> HW settings -> then long-press the knob. Similarly to the MK3S+, a new “Experimental” submenu will appear on the screen. There you can enter the adjusted e-steps value:

This menu is available since v4.3.3.

RE: Different extruder

a change like this would normally be made in the Marlin files from github. if this is an Original Prusa Printer you could either re configure the Firware 'E' steps per milimeter, value, directly in firmware, or using g codes.,

And if you want to make sure it works well, you might want to go with a dual drive extruder explicitly designed for the Mini such as the Bondtech: https://www.bondtech.se/product/ifs-extruder-for-prusa-mini/ or the Trianglelab clone: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000816286181.html
