Cleaning filament

Hi to all

I bought an E3D Nozzle X, in this case it is not allowed to use the cold pull procedure. I'd like to try some cleaning filaments, but it is not clear to me how they should be used. Could you give me some advice and suggest some reliable brands (I would not want to run the risk of clogging the hotend of the printer or worse)?

RE: Cleaning filament

Here are two brands I've used:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076DN8PTT/

Just run them like regular filament through your printer. I load them a bit (10 degrees) hotter than the previous filament I used. Use the menu on the LCD and manually run 5 to 10 cm through the nozzles before unloading it.

Thanks.
Do you mean that, if i previously loaded PLA filament, i have to load it as PETG?
I'll try eSUN as the other one is not easy to get in my country (Italy).

How often do you use it? In case of a partial clogged hotend, should it able to solve the problem?

RE: Cleaning filament

I've used the Esun cleaning filament, and I've used it two ways on two printers.

First, on the Prusa, just heat it up to 270C or so and feed it through, using the front panel to move the extruder (E axis) for a few inches of bead.  Then back it out, and load whatever filament you need to use as usual.

Then, doing the cold pull procedure.  Release the idler gear, heat it up way hot, start pushing it through, back off the temp to 85C or so, keep pushing until you can push no more, and pull it out.

The other printer (Ultimaker) has a built-in cold-pull for either PLA or cleaning filament, and it prompts you when to push, pull, etc.

I don't do it regularly, only when I suspect that something may be wonky with the nozzle.

I usually load it a bit hotter than what I used before so loading it on PETG setting after using PLA is fine.

I don't use it often. I see all these posts about partial clogs but the last one I had was on my old Wanhao years ago...

But yes, if you suspect a partial clog it should do the job, perhaps combined with a cold pull as suggested by @jsw.

Thanks to all.
Unfortunately with E3D Nozzle X, cold pull procedure is not possible. This is the main raison i was looking for a cleaning filament.

Again, thanks to all for your advices.
