Bed level but no good first layer

Hi All,

I have a strange issue, my print bed is level, but my first layer is not even...

I was not satisfied with my first layer of my prints so I went on a quest to make my bed true level 😉 what I did is the following:

1. Installed octoprint with bedvisualizer, this gave a good insight and I was able to get it up to the following flatness (picture)

but when I printed this bed level test all the ones on the right are still too loose, and the left is squeezed

2. Next what I thought, and found, was that there is a small bit of XZ skew, I then adjusted this according to the Prusa guide online.

but when I printed this bed level test I got the same results, it seems that the super Pinda still compensating on the right side??

3. During the bed leveling sequence I heard that the probing on the right side made a slightly different sound, so I untightened the 4 screws that hold the x-axis a bit, and now the sound is gone, all sounds the same, but still the same print results...

4. I checked if the x-axis is perpendicular to the y-axis, which it is, also at the end.

I am out of ideas, anyone else has ideas?

try reducing the bed gap within 0.1, silicone mod would definitely help You achieving  a flat print bed.

The picture isn't so clear, at a quick sight the first layer looks good, sure isn't simply dirty? try cleaning it by dish soap and rinse it a lot by hot water.

@jerzeek

Did you build the MC Yourself, or factory Built?

Are you sure something is not loose or belt tension is not right causing this?

I would go back to basics and check everything is built as it should be, there are no foreign objects under the bed, there are no bed screws sitting proud, belts are tensioned correctly.

I am not an expert on the mini, but to me some parts of the squares look ok and other parts not, I suspect something is not quite right with the build and you have slight movement occuring.

Tank you very much!

Hi Turro75,

I will try that, I did try flipping the PEI sheet to see if one side was thicker, but that did not change anything so I don't think it is dirt.

Hi @clarmrrsn

the printer is factory built. The only thing I find difficult to check is the belt tension, since I don not have prusament PETG I cant print the gauge.

I will reassemble the xz arm, maybe that helps 🙂
