Looks like someone has a lot of spare time 😀. I would say google spread sheet would already meet this requirement.

But if you want to develop one, I think the major problem is to get a trust of the users. The hoster has access to a sensitive information. For business owners, price calculation is pretty critical to keep it secret.

Any interest in an online calculator?

What additional functionality would it have, or how would it be different than the approximation given in prusaslicer?

Good point.  I really would like to make an octoprint plugin that does cost and saves it in print history.

As this is pretty basic math it could be written in JavaScript and store any persistent data in local storage so that a central need not be trusted nor needed.

In this case you'll loose any benefit of the web based solution (cross device usage).

I've downloaded and tried. After filling the form, the Calculate button is inactive. I've looked where to put the material cost, and no way.

Hi,

would you mind if shared a screenshot?

 You need to enter:

  • a name
  • print duration
  • volume
  • at least one printer
  • at least one material

best,

Andreas

I think the benefit to a spreadsheet or program over an online app is the ability to save for future reference.

@andreas-r13

I've managed to add the filament cost, and the printer (cost?). I've loaded STL, the button still inactive.

Maybe I should click "Slice"? If I click it, it appears a smaller window , and don't know how to continue. There is a button in the middle bottom partialliy hidden, when clicking it the program exits and lose the project.

Later I added directly the Gclode, still can't Save nor Calculate. Am I missing something?

I use the Excel sheet from CNC Kitchen. A good basis to extending by myself. I don't want to put confidential data (STL-data) online to calculate the costs.

Thanks to @nikolai_r and @Lichtjaeger for the link QuotingSheet.xlsx 👍

Hi @davidhajjar

so far so good. Now you just need to select the printer / filament you want to use in the "Printer" and "Material" tab of your calcualtion view (see the green badges showing "0"? Thats why you have not selected any printer / material yet).

You also can go to your settings and set printers / materials to default. Then those will be checked automatically.

I'm writting the documenation at the moment. It's not 100% at the moment, however a good start.

Let me know if you have any questions left.

P.S. The next step is to bring this calculator into an app (iOS & Android). I'll keep you posted in this thread.

Best,

Andreas

At the moment the app loads the currency symbol from the current set language. However it will be possible to set your own currency with an upcoming update 🙂

RE: Print cost calculator

Would be nice if I could use it on Mac OS - or, as suggested - an online solution (less maintenance).
The use of an App is quite a bit outside of my workflow and most users I imagine? Or do people really work with Gcodes on their phones?
