3mf files from Bambu Studio
Hi all, does anyone know if we can covert 3mf files that were created using Bambu Studio into Pruserslicer. Apparently, as of October 17, 2023, Bambu .3mf files cannot be opened in other slicers, including PrusaSlicer.
RE: 3mf files from Bambu Studio
Not a definite solution. I have the same issue. In my situation is was the problem with files that had text added to them. I was adding text to models to identify the model for future printing. None of the Bambu Labs files with text would open in Prusa slicer. When I removed the text the files opened just fine. I just had to recreate the text in Prusa slicer. I have no issues opening the files from Prusa slicer in Bambu Studio. I contacted Prusa tech support and they could not find a solution to the issue.
It appears to be a cynical ploy - Bambu use Prusa's open source software, badge it as their own and tweak it slightly so that, apparently deliberately, the files cannot be used on Prusa; this appears to be an attempt to restrict certain files for their own exclusive use. Afaict it's always possible to export from Bambu Studio in a form that Prusa Slicer can import but settings are lost.
Cheerio,
RE: 3mf files from Bambu Studio
I received this suggestion from CinderWing3D who I purchase 3D models from. It worked perfectly for importing her Bambu Studio colored models into Prusa slicer to print with my Original XL 5 tool printer.
Generally the issue lies in the splitting to objects part. As Bambu and Prusa handle it separately. I recommend loading in the 3mf, and when it prompts about "Multi part object detected" to click NO. It will load them onto the bed in pieces but you can CTRL+Z and undo the auto arrange and then it loads in perfectly!
Hope this helps. I have not seen this solution offered anyplace else I researched and it worked for me as long as the file does not error during import.

I created a converter here: https://github.com/raistlinJ/3mf_bambu2prusaTested with several models and it seems to work; even transfers painted objects.
Hope it helps.
