Some Connect Files to Printer Process Questions
Background - I have given up on Octopi... getting lots of issues. So moving to this. I have 4x I3s printers and one mini.
have about 200 Files that equal about 1.6gb ( over the current limit but that a different issue )
1 - If I upload them all to connect and send to a printer... if I update that file on Connect and print again will it overwrite it locally to print the new version.
2 - Also the connect upload box says. "Click to choose a print or firmware file or drag it here". Can I apply a firmware directly from my raspberry Pi to the Printers? It doesn't see to want to accept a .hex file?
3 - Are folders on Prusa connect going to be a thing ( I can see them locally on each printer on the SD card )
4 - Is the SD shown card the one IN the printer or on the Raspberry pi? I am guessing it is.
PrusaLink gcodes. - on the raspberry pi? If so do they come down from the connect files?
SD Card. - on the printer
RE: Some Connect Files to Printer Process Questions
Hi,
1 - it depends, we have the ability to overwrite them, but some ways might not do that, the functionality is fractured in the code. If you are missing the functionality in your workflow, please tell us. In the meantime, you can delete them remotely before uploading.
2 - this only works for the buddy printers, not the older ones
3 - i don't know. I think not
4 - yes, SD card is the one in the printer, PrusaLink gcodes are on the pi. We cannot touch the files on the printer tho, so those can be only printed, nothing else, PrusaLink gcodes should have the same functionality as the files on buddy printer usb drives. PrusaLink gcodes are not synced automatically, they download as you request to print them or manually move them to the printer in some other way.

Thank you for your reply.
Is there any way of raising the 1gb limit on the connect files yet?
RE: Some Connect Files to Printer Process Questions
Hi, not yet, if you own a significant amount of printers, you can probably ask support and see if you get lucky.

That's sad. One of the features I was most excited about was cloud storage so I can send the same file to many printers. But without any way to organize folders (by project, client, etc) it's just a hot mess of files, and I now find myself more often than not sending files directly from Prusaslicer to the respective printers.

RE: Some Connect Files to Printer Process Questions
While I agree it's mess... I name all files:
Project_Version_Other data
And the search is so quick - it negates the need for folders... well it works of me 🙂
Internally the gcode has all the other data that shows up so you don't need to have that all in the file name - Filament, time, layer height.
Also it separates printer types. and you get a check box to show different printers Mk3, Mk4, mini etc. If there are no files for a mini... that checkbox does not appear... that is pretty cool.

I mean, a way to organize the projects is sorely needed imo. I just didn't hear about folders being worked on anytime soon
