RPi Zero Debian 10 Performance

Great job guys!

I wouldn't think is possible to get such nice booting speeds from the stock Debian. I thought the only way to boot it so fast would be to use some embedded Linux. I believe with a custom distro, it could be even faster, but not necessary for now definitely.

If you're interested in future, I can take a look.

RE: RPi Zero Debian 10 Performance

Hi, we know about that. There are two problems:

  • first boot, which is so long, because image is expanding to full SD Card capacity, this is Rasbian issue, and I thing, this is ok for now. It is only first boot.
  • normal starting Rasbian. There are many ways to short this boot time. We plan do some little improvements, but we really don't plan use own Linux from stretch for now. May be, sometime in future.

RE:

@McBig with RPI02W it should be possible to get down to around 12-16s for boot time. At least this is what I'm seeing on my 02W.
