Prusalink setup: Unable to upload to printer SD Card properly

Reading through the forum it sounds like this may just be user error, but if someone could help me fix it, I would be very grateful as I'm 2 days into practicing google-fu and reading posts.

Long story short, I connected my Raspberry Pi 400 via USB cable to my prusa MK3S+ w/MMU2S printer, installed the custom Prusa OS, and now use it with prusa connect to remotely upload files. I followed the official Prusa website instructions.

Everything seems to be working great actually, with just one problem. When I upload a file via Prusa connect/Prusa Link (I've tried the connect website and the local ip address website), it doesn't push it to the SD card. The location shows up on connect as "PrusaLink GCodes" instead of "SD Card" as I would like it to. This works fine when I want to print using the Prusa Connect website, but if I go to my printer later and want to manually print directly from the SD card, the file isn't showing up there.

I've scoured every setting I can find, and can't find a way to make it push to the SD card. When I upload the file, I click the "Copy to Printer Button" and I've tried "Add to printer Queue", but no luck. It doesn't seem to be a hang up/speed issue, as both the website and printer show the transfer successful completes, and when I tell it to print from the website it works just fine.

If Someone could help me get Prusa connect to upload to my SD card I would extremely grateful.

Hardware: Original Prusa i3 MK3S+ with MMU2S upgrade ----- USB connection with Raspberry Pi 400

Firmware: Updated all firmwares to the latest release (08 Sept)

Hi, so sorry you actually spent time on this. You see, we only can talk to the printer via serial. It would really suck transferring files over it. The speed would be 11.5 kB/s so 1MB would take over a minute to transfer and the printer would be unusable in the meantime. So we did not even attempt doing it. Sorry again, we should really message this better somehow

Ah okay, Thank you so much for the quick reply! Any chance this might be added in the future or no because of the slow speeds?

Many of my files are <10MB, so even if I had to wait 20 minutes for them, it would be worth it to me. You all have done a great job with the remote upload, it's such a great feature for me to use when I'm not home, thank you.

Zero chance, sorry 🫤 if we however can somehow address your use case from a different angle let us know. For example, you can queue your files from the connect ui and then at the printer select set ready. As of now it is done in a really hacky way described here: https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Link/releases/tag/0.7.0.rc1

Let me know if that works for you

Okay no worries, not a big deal, I just like saving my files locally on the printer. I can always unplug the SD card and plug it into my computer when needed.

Thank you for your time.

Yea, i get it. Just beware, PowerPanic is now being interrupted by the inevitable usb reset that happens whenever anything connects to said serial. There might be a way going forward, but as of now, PowerPanic only works if printing from the SD card with raspi connected over the pins.

Just assuming you'd want to know that since you really like the SD card way of life.

Again, sorry about these

So printing from SD card with pi connected over USB will power panic work or only when connected to pins

Your sentence does not make sense, but i think you got it. If you print from the Sd and pi is connected via pins. Pp works. If any other combo, Pp flacid, uh sorry, pp doesn't work
