Native Mobile Apps for Prusa Print Management: A Fun Proposal

Hello, fellow Prusa 3D printing enthusiasts!

I know this post might be a bit unconventional, but I wanted to share a fun idea that I'm really passionate about. As an experienced mobile software engineer with a passion for 3D printing and 3D modeling, I've come to appreciate the quality and reliability of Prusa Research's printers. I'm excited about the idea of applying my skills to a field I genuinely care about and stepping away from the soul-sucking, capitalistic side of the industry.

For those interested in or already using Prusa Connect and PrusaLink, we know they offer the convenience of managing our printers remotely. However, I've been wondering if you would be interested in having native mobile apps for iOS and Android that provide a more seamless, intuitive, and excellent experience than using a web interface on our phones. Or are you happy with the current setup as it is?

Here's my unorthodox proposal: If there's enough interest in native mobile apps, what if we, as a community, show our support for this idea and suggest to Prusa Research that I could lead the development of an engineering team to make it happen? Of course, this is a long shot, but I thought it would be a fun way to explore job opportunities and contribute to the Prusa community.

I'm looking forward to your thoughts on the potential of native mobile apps for Prusa print management and engaging in some light-hearted brainstorming. Let's discuss the possibilities, improvements, and benefits that native apps could bring to our 3D printing experience and whether it's something you'd find valuable.

Best regards

Totally down for this idea to come to light. I use Octopod on all my apple devices to monitor my farm remotely which has been huge for me. Prusa Connect's website provides a ton of valuable information but it isn't as quick to access on the go as just opening an app. Whether it is a dedicated Prusa app or a method to say connect them with Octoeverywhere like my current setup is; would be awesome.
