MK3 Alert when wrong material is present?
Hi,
Is there a way for the mk3 printer to pause and alert myself if the material is incorrect to the gcode that was queued and allow me to change it before continuing? This would save me from starting a print and wasting material and time realizing it was the wrong material to begin with.
Thank you
There's no way for the *printer* to know what is loaded - short of adding a spectrometer it has to rely on the operator loading the correct filament.
Also, there is no way to be certain whether the gcode is intended for any particular filament - it might have the filament type listed in a comment but that is an aid to a human reader, it is meaningless to the printer which just reads it as a sequence of temperatures, extrusion rates and movements.
So the simple answer is: No.
You *might* examine the queue and check whether the next file uses the same parameters as the previous one but even then you would get false alerts when a gcode for a strong, practical print followed one for a flimsy trinket even if the same material was used.
This is why you have the option to include the material type in the filename, as a hint to you - but many users shorten filenames to simplify directories...
Cheerio,

I am not sure in what state is the Connect filament management thingy, but this is something Connect can alert you about if you are filling out the loaded filament religiously. Outside of that no, MK3 does not parse the comments present in gcodes. MK4 changes that and actually will alert you 😉
