MK3.5 - usb webcam

Howdy, I understand that a usb camera cannot be connected directly to the MK3.5 (or MK4 and XL).

In a future release could it possible to "Link" the MK3.5 PrusaLink with a Pi3 running PrusaLink?  The Pi would specifically be only doing the camera support so that it could be used in PrusaConnect?   Having the pi take the camera load and still be integrated might be feasible?

You can effectively already do that, you need to setup some software to push a image regularly to Connect. It is easy to do and cheaper using an Arduino ESP32-CAM which cost less than 10 pounds/dollars/euros. Link to software etc in a model I published:

A first party solution is possible but improbable to happen anytime soon if ever. You can get the code from the Prusa-Link github repo tho https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Link/pulls. So if you want to tinker, it exists 😉

Thanks.  This is a lot more complicated than just plugging in a usb camera.  Don't happen to have one of those boards.  Maybe I'll try it, if the boards I find work.

New blog post and instructions have lots of good info.
