Watchdog Reset Error

Got my first Watchdog Reset error message this morning - hopefully the last. I saw in past messages, many of these were blamed on faulty USB sticks. Mine isn't the original USB stick shipped with the Mini, & I've been printing from this one many months.

This error occured on maybe the 3rd layer of a fairly simple print & I was right there looking at it when it happened. First, mid-layer, the head stopped moving & the fan turned off. Then within 2 seconds the screen went blank. Then a few seconds more the power came back on, the fan started, & this screen & alarm came on. I waited about a minute, then pressed the control button. It beeped once & the audible alarm stopped, but still displayed error. I waited another minute with no change, so I hit the reset button. It came back on with no error displayed, but the nozzle was still stuck to the print. I raised the Z axis, pulled part of the print off the nozzle, turned on pre-heat, & cleaned the rest off the nozzle. Cleaned the bed, restarted the 2.5 hour print, & everything went OK. Looked over the wires, motors, rails, belts - no obvious problems.

So it appears no harm done, but I wonder if there's anything else I should check? I did regular maintenance just 3 weeks ago & have been printing flawlessly since then.

I got my first a few days ago aswell with the original Usb-drive. Strange coincidense

But i was told by support to try another drive that works. Dont know why the original usb gets problem sometimes. I done some prints with the original after the first. Sometimes it works and some others it dont.

A link to their support page about it. https://help.prusa3d.com/en/article/watchdog-reset-mini_134201

Thanks for the info. I doubt that my problem is the USB. I've been using this USB drive before & since with no more errors.

But the support article did point out another potential cause. They say a min-temp error can also trigger a watchdog error. The watchdog is higher priority than min-temp & will override it. I think that's what happened to me. My printer environment hovers just over 18C, which is the min-temp threshold. This was my first print of the day. In my second attempt, after reset, the bed & hot-end were still warm & it printed flawlessly. No more problems since then on several prints.

Great template. Some of the relevant info was in a short video I tried to attach, but upload failed.

@burtronix

watchdog error appeares, when the program stucks somewhere in the uninterruptable loop - is the FW security option not to burn your  printer, when the FW error happens. It cleared during heat controlling loop. so when this loop will not refresh the watchdog timer, it will initiate a watchdog reset.

The mintemp error under normal cicumstances should not initiate a watchdog error, as it  is a controlled manner to watch the thermistors in two senses -

1.there is a too low ambiente temperature, and the printer will have troubles to heat up. It concerns mainly the bed, which requires rather high energy to heat up beibg cooled by surrounding cold.

2. the thermistor wires are broken - it shows a non existing temperature

One more remark,

when you feel, this has to do something with Firmware ( this blue screen), would be much better to put this issue to the Firmwar, HW thread, for admins to discover it earlier, then letting them browse the whole forum, if thre is something, which ciuld be a bug.

I don't think it was firmware, as there was no blue screen. As described in the original post, I was watching & it happened in the 1st few layers. It looked like a power failure for a few seconds. Head stopped moving, fan turned off, screen was black. Nothing else on same circuit was affected. Then a few seconds later, the screen & audible alarm came on for Watchdog Error. The fan also came on. The whole outage was no more than 5 second.
