Usb splitter for led light and usb drive
Wondering if I can use a USB splitter to use a led light and usb drive connected to the usb port on prusa mini. The light is specified to 0.7W. Don't wanna destroy anything therefore asking before 🙂
The splitter had data and power on one port, and only power in the second for the led light.
Splitter I'm gonna use:

RE:
0.7W / 5V is about 0.14A, and it is really low draw from the USB port ( usually max safe draw is 0.5A from PC devices, bit nowadays you can draw much more)
So you should be okay with it, and you don't need a power delivery splitter, just a normal USB splitter.
Though some splitters are hubs and I do not know if they properly forward pendrive further to the host, so that may not work.
Also notice that 0.7W light is really low even for generic led light for the 3d printer or camera. It may be too low for certain cams to have a sane framerate on the stream.
Frankly speaking I would recommend separate smart bulb to the different socket, so that you can use the light without having a printer turned on, which is especially handy during maintenance of the hotend to avoid short circuiting cables close to the heaters 😉
