RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread

I have some news: I have contacted email support this week and got an answer:

The MINI is being upgraded at the moment since we found some issues with the first pieces that reached our customers and this will cause a slight delay in the shipping of the remaining orders of the Prusa MINI. The shipping table should be available in January and then we could be able to tell you more accurate data regarding the expedition queue for the MINI.

Mini with FW:4.4.1 + SuperPINDA + Bondtech Heatbreak + PC4-M8 couplers + 1 piece boden

Hopefully this just means some adjustments in the assembly process. If they need to print new parts that could take longer.

Sounds to me like new printed parts. Maybe new bowden tube and better holder.

Although they still  need to work on the informative side of things. They do seem to be slack in keeping anyone up to date unless you ask

This is making feel both excited and slightly annoyed at the same time. For one thing, I ordered on the 15th, so I'm a bit annoyed the wait has gone up a bit. On the other hand, the parts will be of much better quality. The far pros outweigh the cons, though, so I'll be expecting my Mini with open arms!

I ordered on the 13th.  I called support and they told me that it would be several months for my order.  My blood pressure when up and I nearly ent off.  Chat acknowledged they misread the order number.  They still would not explain the delay or give me a date.  The delay to exchange parts and fix issues makes sense.  I am still a little annoyed that no emails or blog posts have occurred to explain the delay.

We just need to remain clam and wait.

Wish I had a printer at home to mess with in the mean time. This waiting time is going to kill me ! However the chat people do seem to not agree with each other although they all agree on there needs to be more communication aha. The last time I spoke to one they said they are having trouble sourcing parts

Asked them yesterday, I had ordered on 23/10. They told me it will ship between mid january and late february, but they can't be sure. Also, as soon as I asked about it, the guy in the chat replied in like a nanosecond - guess a lot of people can't wait, and honestly I can't blame them.

Nice to hear. But there is one big thing I don't understand. Prusa seems like it has good marketing. So why no blog posts to give hundreds of users the chance to keep an eye on the process. I don't think everyone who "would better have his printer yesterday" is registered in here. Also this would take tons of work from the support team - which have to write day by day the same thing to explain when and why the printer delivery goes up a bit..

It’s better to give than to receive. Especially advice.

I think we Should All submit a comment recommending regular blog updates.  It has been too long.

I agree. Once every other week (even once a month!) would be enough for me!

@emperorofthedaleks66

This seems like a reasonable request that would alleviate a lot of the anxiety uncertainty can induce. I also agree with the above commenter that this would lessen the burden on the support team.

I guess it is a bit frustating to hear of delays, but I think I would be a little miffed to find I just missed out on an upgraded version.

Tbh, I still haven't cleared any space in the "workshop" to put the printer, and I have had 3 weeks to do that...

I think a twice monthly update would be a great idea, just to let us know things are ticking along.

It could also be packaging they are fixing due to the number of control boxes arriving damaged.  I read about in the blog.

Every time I talk to chat they give me a different answer as to when my order will ship 🙂

Should we maybe all write an E-MAIL to Prusa Suppport with rhe request that they Please give an Official Statement what They Fix and How the Shipping Plan is?

See? I told you they delayed your order because they will make the printer better for you 😉

BTW from brief look at spreadsheet it seems they shipped orders on 13th that were inside continental Europe, because most skipped are destined to America.

I believe we'll hear what's going on soon, alongside endless topics on social media I am sure heads of customer support are nagging rest of the company with "we get constant stream of questions about when will my MINI ship, what should we tell customers now???" 😀

I'm sure when they finish doing their work, they'll update.  Wouldn't make sense for them to update anyone right now if they are in the midst of fixing something.

Now I am worried... I'm one of the first "lucky" ones to receive a Mini before Christmas. Now I feel like a beta tester paying full price for an unfinished product - will there be a hardware update for us early testers?

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

What do you think about the automatic fire extinguisher?

https://www.firepro.com/en/products/small-cylindrical-units

There are cheap 500gm - 2kg CO2 extinguishers available. You could use an esp32 to receive a signal from your smoke alarm and trigger a solenoid/stepper motor to activate it. CO2 will not harm your printer and provide enough cooling while also displacing the oxygen from the fire.
