I still don't get why they don't just ship out the Minis with an empty USB stick and still-buggy firmware and deliver the firmware update via internet a couple days later. Gets the printer to people faster, while the firmware will still be available soon enough that most people don't actually have to wait longer after receiving as they likely finish it when the Minis are still on the road.

I could only imagine said bug is so bad that it affects product safety...

100% agree

Oh definitely not going to cancel, either I upgrade my order to the MK3 or pick up a MP mini V2 to get me going on prototyping stuff until the prusa mini arrives. The only real thing stopping me from upgrading the prusa is my lack of confidence in building the kit.

Our build took two fellas eight hours and seven and a half liters of wine. Mind you - without the wine, it would probably only been three hours.

Still, the first print after adjusting was an instant success on the self-built Mk3. And to be honest: We've only ordered the Mini, because the Mk3 is a satisfying piece of kit already. imo, you would not regret changing your order.

It took me 4 hours to assemble my MK3S and 5 hours for my Bear Mk3s.

That’s not bad at all. Few videos on YouTube show guys building it between 10 and 12 hours. Lol
i wasn’t going to cancel my order for the mini but when they told me December then changed it to possibly March I couldn’t wait. Had the extra funds available and they refunded and ordered the mk3s. Ordered yesterday. Shipped today. Already on the truck with a Delivery date of Tuesday.

I got my MK3S built in just over 12 hours split over 3 evenings after work involving repurposing the kitchen table back and forth several times, with three assembly rewinds and re-attempts due to a few tiny mistakes in my following the very concise and accurate instructions. I think I could probably do it in 5 hours given prior experience and the right conditions. The Mini sounds much simpler 🙂

Thats really why I wanted the Mini. But having read a lot of people saying its better for experience to get the kit and build it yourself just so you can learn more in case you need to repair something later down the line. At least now ill have some extras from the Black Friday deal.

Just finished my MK3S build. I didn't time myself, but I took my time and did it over 3 days. My guess is I put 10 hours in. It was a blast! my advice would be to use the online manual in addition to the printed one and read all of the comments before each step.  There are some real time/headache savers given from those that came before you.

For the first printer, that may be true but opinions differ.

It all comes down to whether 3D printing will be your hobby, or just a tool to support your existing other hobby. In first case, by all means, tinker, tune, tweak, rebuild your printer. In second case, you need it to work and not bother much with it.

Sorry friends, I tried to hold strong with my October 14th order, but I'm out - the Black Friday deal was too good to resist, so I cancelled and used the credit towards an MK3S - free shipping (to Australia), textured sheet and roll of Prusament are quite a chunk of savings!

Will be cheering on your shipment notifications from the sidelines 😀

Very understandable, I’m considering the same thing. The mini is such the ideal first printer to get my feet wet on and see whether I will enjoy 3D printing as much as I think I will. The plan is to start with the mini and either add a MK4 or XL sometime next year. But the shipping delay is making it very hard to resist following your example @marcins.

Enjoy your MK3S. It is a great piece of kit.

I had the same idea but decided to wait (even though I sold my other 3D printer the day after I ordered the mini) we all know the MK3 platform will be replaced by a 32bit upgrade some time soon and I never (could) print lager objects on my other (Chinese) printer. I hoped for a delivery this year but after a while I figured that that was not for me (I ordered several days after the launch). Yes I pondered about canceling the order and switching to the MK3. Yes there are some projects on hold right now that need a 3D printed part. But on the upside, I now have all the time I need for may family and that is most important of all. Complaining about the slightly shifting shipment date is becoming a bit dull -- We all buy printers from Prusa because we want quality & performance and when the company asks for a little bit more time to deliver the stuff we want we start to complain.

just my 2 cents

I am space limited until I build a workshop and buy a shipping container for a printer farm.  My goal is a printer farm in 24-36 months.

People are excited about a new thing, it's human nature to be disappointed when you have to wait a little bit longer for that new thing. Is anybody actually complaining? People are expressing disappointment, sure, but that's just because they're passionate.

Regarding waiting for a 32-bit "MK4", for what it's worth, in the MINI release blog is this paragraph:

it’s quite possible that some of the best features of both new printers will find their way to the good ol’ MK3 in a form of an affordable upgrade.

I mean, "quite possible" is language set to temper expectations, but at a high level (just from looking at the assembly manual since I don't have one yet) there's no obvious blocker for being able to produce a 32bit electronics box and new LCD for the MK3S chassis as an upgrade in the future.
