It was end of November mentioned in the glob post. My guess is last wee of the month? (And I hope units ship with Thermal Runaway Protection enabled 😆 )

Update on shipping information: new orders expected to ship in late February. No word on those from announcement weekend if something changes, and no concrete date yet. https://help.prusa3d.com/article/6OdtbKF1bw-shippingtable#_ga=2.90582227.892870830.1572312450-123956724.1567967659

I think they would have announced a delay by now.  The again, past practice dictates something else.

RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread

Ordered Mini on November 4th. Given the level of interest, it seems the best I can hope for is a January delivery.

This will be my first 3D printer, so I plan to immerse myself in this area for the next 6 months or so. My plan to purchase several more and create a local makerspace for high school age kids.

Anyone aware of a good 3D Printing curriculum for 13-18 year olds?

Keep an eye on the 'Drivers & firmware' page on the website

I dont think there will be any deliveries before the drivers etc have been loaded up and the web page updated.

Also prusaslicer will be updated to carry the Mini profiles before the Mini's are delivered to newbies like me

I think i should be quite early as the date on my Mini order is 13th October 😀

I ordered the Prusa Mini as my first 3D printer on the 11th.  I have been saving for a Mk3 but as I am in college I cannot afford the space for a larger printer.  This one suits my needs perfectly!  I'm a little bummed that I gotta wait until February, as I thought I would at least get 'er in January, but nevertheless I think it will be a good wait.

I hope this is going to be an amazing printer!

RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread

I just ordered a Prusa Mini. It will be my first 3D printer and I expect to use it to make little pets and accessories for my wife's Blythe doll hobby.  I have no experience at all with 3D printing and will be starting from scratch so we will see how it goes.  I wanted a printer that would be reliable, and require less fiddling than the Chinese models so my wife can use it too. I'm not looking forward to waiting until nearly March but the Mini appears to be just what I need, and is a good size for the anticipated use, so i hope patience will pay off.

My ender tore up the bed again.  I am so glad it was not my first printer.  It is pure garbage.  I can't wait to get my Mini.

So if I ordered mine OCT 17th does it count as announcement weekend? 🙂 Do you think I can at least count on shipping mine still in 2019?

I ordered on 10/15, and I'll honestly be shocked if I get my printer before January.  I'm only speculating, but based on what they've said I would guess if you didn't order in the first 24 hours you probably won't see your printer in 2019.

The announcement weekend was October 12th  / 13th.

So you are probably looking at January.

It is really hard to tell delivery dates because we do not know volume.  Any dates are and extimate or conjecture.

It may be more limited by number of units they have ready or manage to make before workers scatter for holidays, rather than by specific date and time. They harvested quite a number of pre-orders from that weekend. Not sure about total number of pre-orders, a few thousands definitely (this Reddit thread).

RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread

Hi Guys,

OK, an enthusiastic and possitive post, based on my order date (Oct 13th), i want to do a little pre delivery prep

I would like to order some filament (no problem with this one), i would also like to order a couple of various sized nozzels.

Am i correct to assume the Mini's nozzels are the same as the Mk3's nozzels ? and therfore safe to order now from the shop ?

Cheers

Steve B

If they scatter for holidays. Not everyone can have time off in December, some people dont want it off.

Fingers crossed there are people who may choose to work through the silly season so they can earn a few extra $$$$ and we can have printers.

Not every country demands workers get paid more in the holidays.  I prefer to work during the holidays and I do not get overtime.

RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread

It gets a bit complicated. In Czech Republic people get 20 days of holidays per year, that's granted by law (but companies routinely offer few more days as part of benefit package to attract people)  Usually it's up to agreement between employee and employer when vacation is taken, but employer can mandate it (by law they can). Also, work during public holidays gets paid at a premium and employer may not want to spend extra money, so people stay at home.

What many companies here in manufacturing and fabrication do, is mandate a company-wide days off. It usually happens when orders are low and people usually take vacations anyway (i. e. summer), or around holidays/end of year. There are some other requirements like inform X weeks/months in advance and agree with worker's union, but if Josef and Ondra and co. from upper management decide that from Dec 23rd till January 5th the company will be closed and people sent to vacations, they can do that. Buildings will be empty, doors locked, lights shut, machinery turned off. I do not know if Prusa Research does that, maybe not, but they can and as I said, it's not uncommon here.

As a noob to 3D printing, do you have any recommendations on what to do while I wait? What 3D printing resources (books, websites, YouTube channels, etc. ) have you found informative and helpful?

The anticipation of getting my first printer is agonizing and I need something constructive to do with my time

In Australia we have similar conditions. 20 days annual leave, 25 if your a permanent shift worker. Public holidays worked are paid at either (depending on what industry you work in) 200% or 250% of your base pay rate if your required to work. Business' here can mandate a shutdown over xmas/newyear or they can close just the public holidays.

Its interesting to hear how it works in other parts of the world
