Is there still a way to enter beta programme? Maybe we are lucky enough to get one beta machine ^^
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
@saij
Given that printer comes out end of this month, I wait for full release version if I paid full price 😉
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
You think there is a significant difference between the betas sent out and the printers shown at ERRF of the 'final' product that will be delivered to users... I think not, I believe that this printer is in its final stage (hardware) and the only differences between then en final product is software (and integration within the Prusa enterprise; eshop parts, slicer etc)
my 2 cents

@oxygen
Hardware-wise certainly, there may be some differences when they come up with better design of plastic parts but I assume it's done for the most part. But software can make or break functionality ... watch any review video and count how many times reviewer says "this can be easily fixed in firmware" when it's not even a bug as an annoyance, but downright malfunction. This is kind of a nasty trend of today's development, ship "minimal viable product" out, but many times that product does not even have functionality it was made to do, or is so broken it's unusable. Chinese printer manufacturers, especially those entering market, seem to have a habit of making a product, sell first batch, maybe try send to few SME reviewers to "collect feedback", only to release new revision that actually works. That's nice and all, but if you've bought the printer already, it will not help your case.
This is not only printers, we have $150k so-called established enterprise product that's so broken it does not do what we purchased it for, have 19 tickets opened with them in last 12 months and every time the answer is "will be fixed in version n.n+1". They should be paying us to do their QA at this point (and yes, it was management who chose that product.)
Sorry for short rant, I didn't meant to compare Prusa Research to Chinese manufacturers, it was just as an example relevant to 3D printing. PR does their homework. I will happily use their product because I know it will work out of the box, and help them improve it the way me as a user can. They have big chunk of community goodwill at their disposal because they deserve it.
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
No need to be sorry, I've been using a Chinese Printer (i3 clone) for 2 years had enough spare parts to build a second printer. I never had the joy of just booting the printer and print. On the day I ordered the Mini I sold my printer and parts.

RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
Well as long as it is only software that will need to be fixed (and software without bugs is too old) I would happily beta test ^^
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
@oxygen
I do not think there will be a huge difference, but there will probably be some polishing.

@charles-h13, agree but that is normal (since this will be the Mini MK1) But since we have seen the printer functioning and the Beta units have been sent IMHO the polishing will be minimal.

RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
Hopefully, we'll see some beta reviews soon.
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
After seeing this unit in person, and performing a hands on demo of the hardware/software. I would say minimal tweaks if any are needed to get this out the door to consumers. Profiles, menu adjustments, and additional features can all be done, after products are shipped.
In this age isn't it a positive notion that we can improve our machines, cars, & equipment with firmware & software updates?
The only features I know were not demoed were the web interface, and the 3d model rendering on the menu screen.
Nether of which will make or break print quality. My main questions are with the web interface and if octoprint will be able to control the mini.

We will only know that when they ship thousands. As many of us have found with assembled machines, shipping can change things.

RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
19 days till December, the wait is killing me!!!!!!
Respect the fact everyone is entitled to have an opinion, you dont have to like it or hate it, just accept its theirs and not yours and you will be ok!
RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread
I have not ordered one yet, waiting for next year to come.
This will be my second printer (bought a used Tevo Nereus for ~200e) and when i get the Mini, it's time to service the Tevo (bearings, belts, wheels, full calibration as i have some random layershifts).
I usually (or so far) have printed smaller parts that will continue to fit well on the Mini, and for bigger, i will probably build myself a RatRig-style corexy around 4-500x4-500 ish cubed.
