RE: Unofficial Prusa Mini Wait Thread

Shipping of orders from the 15th should start tomorrow according to the table.

Judging from the spreadsheet though it looks like lots of orders from the 14th still have to be sent out (or perhaps lots of people forgot to update their entry).

Either way, I'm gonna try to stay away from the forum and the shipping info for a while, maybe the wait will feel a little easier...

See you guys in march! Bye 🖐️

A little data for you guys: the counter I put next to my order in the community sheet says 116 days have passed, and at least 24 remain. It roughly sums up to 40% of a year.

Not a complaint, I was just curious 😛

I added a counter for estimated time left and estimated total wait time to the comment column of my spreadsheet entry, too. Copied your code 😉

@billplein

Greetings fellow Austinite...

Waiting sucks, but this printer is worth it.   Yesterday, I used some black and gold filament to make a Battlestar Galactica Coaster...

I've put the 3mf, stl, and gcode files up here...

My order was placed on 10/14/2019-20:24:14 CET and delivered on 2/7/2020-9:18 CST.

So I waited 116 days and it was worth it.

The wait will be worth it for sure, but checking the shipping page four times a day isn't a healthy habit for me, I need to stay away for some time 😛

Edit: see? I've done it again. I said I wouldn't be checking this page until march comes over, and here I am!

There were two orders marked as shipped in our spreadsheet yesterday.

Woot! Shipping notice received today 🙂 14 Oct order.

I've been learning FreeCAD, mostly I have used OpenSCAD which is a clever idea but leaves a lot to be desired. Now I have discovered how to script FreeCAD, I will probably switch over.

A goog alternative to FreeCAD is ONSHAPE, which is a cloud based CAD-system, which I think is very intuitive.

I think you slipped a digit on nozzle diameter too.

I had some prior experience with SolidWorks when I got into 3D printing last year, so naturally that was my go-to CAD software. It's decent enough but there's no free or even cheap license as far as I'm aware, and it's a bit overkill feature-wise. Tried out FreeCAD a bit while looking for a good alternative, it's pretty cool but I just felt it was too unstable still. One design I had been working on I suddenly couldn't even open anymore without causing an instant crash. Have been avoiding FreeCAD since then. Maybe I'll give it another go some day.

Gave Fusion 360 a shot after that since they offer that free "personal use" license and I have to say I'm really impressed by how nice it is to use and how modern it feels compared to something like SolidWorks (it may be powerful but it also feels like it's from 2003). Have been using it to design a 1/18 scale RC car the last few weeks while I've been waiting for my Mini and it's been a joy throughout!

I'm firmly in the Fusion 360 camp for about 8 months. I did a fair amount of 2D CAD back in the day with Auto CAD & Turbo CAD. I was looking for something feature-rich even if it's taking longer to learn.
