RE: Welcome to our new forum! Feedback here!
Looks to be finally fixed - i mostly saw it if logged in, logged out the forums were readable
RE: Welcome to our new forum! Feedback here!
Using the UNSUBSCRIBE option in the User Control Panel is horribly bad. Every unsubscribe kicks me out of the panel and back to the general forum, and I have to navigate back to the subscription list manually. Takes minutes to unsubscribe from four topics.
RE: Welcome to our new forum! Feedback here!
Hi Guys,
thanks for all the feedback, I'm sorry for the delay, but we are working on it. All your suggestions are noted 😉
Fixed so far:
- Some pictures got lost during the migration, should be ok now.
- Fixed redirects, some didn't work.
- Vertical space optimization (more text, smaller gaps)
- Different colour for links
- The quoted text has a bounding box
- To share YouTube video, insert a link to the text
- Read/Unread threads marked
- Option to mark all as ready (will be improved to mark just the category you are in)
- PM module added (in the future messaging system will be the same for the entire platform)
- Best Answer plugin added, answered threads are marked [Answered]
- Announcements for each category
- Plus many more changes, some of them on the backend.
In progress:
- Fixing the search + enabling Google indexing
- Hide the text on the homepage for already logged in users
- Improved graphical layout (further space optimization)
- Section with all announcements, so you won't miss anything important
- Automatic subscription to threads (option to unsubscribe will be in the user panel)
- Automatic picture resizing => creating a thumbnail, keeping the original aspect ratio
- Preview function before posting the thread
- First unread => takes you to the first unread post/page
- Fixes and tweaks...
I'm aware the transfer wasn't ideal, but I intend to fix all the issues soon and then focus on adding new features to improved the overall experience. In case you have some more ideas, please share them here 😉

Here's an idea: Pick a real forum platform and ditch this awful hack of a forum. This is really unusable right now.

1000x this. While I'm sure there were reasons for picking this platform... had you gone with a true forum system then literally all of the things you had to fix and list as still pending above would have been done and ready from day 1.
RE: Welcome to our new forum! Feedback here!
There were several reasons for using this kind of forum. The old phpBB might work on the front end, but we were fixing it almost constantly. Not to mention its security system was incompatible with anything else.
What annoys you the most right now? Most of the criticized things were fixed or will be fixed in a few days.

FWIW I've been administering a XenForo install for the past five years and it's been impressively simple even with an unusual setup. Can't recall having to do any sort of "fixing" to things I hadn't written myself, and that was only after upgrades. Happy to discuss/show privately (shoot me a PM if interested). This was migrated from a vB forum, which sounds to have been a similar nightmare to your phpBB install.

@jakub-d I too have plenty of complaints, but all I want to say now is thanks. Thank you for the work that has been done (it's been noticed) and thank you for continuing to work on it. Most of all, thanks for directly engaging with us to let us know what is up as that has been the most frustrating part in my opinion.

I wrote quite long list. Tried to send..."Save" (huh?)...and it failed. Apparently I got logged out.
I'm not gonna write it again but the biggest issue: This is too bright theme to watch for more than a minute, my eyes hurt already.
RE: Welcome to our new forum! Feedback here!
Default image post setting should have LINK TO : MEDIA FILE set, rather than LINK TO : NONE. It is a serious pain in the arse to have to constantly "open image in new tab", edit the last characters to remove the "thumbnail size" text to open the original full size image stored on the Prusa server. E.g: two images posted, one linked to media and one not. You can click the linked thumbnail to directly open the full size image.

+1000 for too bright!!! It is painful...
RE: Welcome to our new forum! Feedback here!
Last I checked monitors still had a "brightness" setting... 😆
RE: Welcome to our new forum! Feedback here!
It does but since the monitor is color calibrated, the brightness is not to be messed with as it screws up the calibration. Besides, this is the only website that has the problem.
BTW, here is a site that I browse a lot and the color scheme is both attractive (subjective) and comfortable to view - http://forums.camerabits.com/

Thanks for the update and hard work. My only open complain which was not mentioned in your list is "Edit time - lock:" Please increase it to 30 minutes/60 minutes.

Automatic picture resizing => creating a thumbnail, keeping the original aspect ratio
Is important, but linking the thumbnail to the original is a MUST HAVE.
RE: Welcome to our new forum! Feedback here!
Wow - just did a quick survey of my old posts from the old forum - ones where images were totally messed up in the transfer. It does look like Prusa has reconnected some of the dots, and they are beginning to look like they actually spell something now.
Still a few outliers, but it seems "better" now.
Thank you Prusa.
ps: a couple "Why is this image in that post?" mismatches that I just found:

Only forums with sticky topics seem to behave this way.
RE: Welcome to our new forum! Feedback here!
Can we PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE increase the time allowed to edit a post? Please, pretty please?
Why does it need to be short? Why not infinity, or at least a day or a week? Why just a few minutes? I made a post, did a tiny bit of research, came back to the thread and saw the "Edit" button still there. But after I had done the edit, when I went to submit, the forum said that the time for editing had expired. This is ridiculous!
AT LEAST IF THE EDIT BUTTON IS STILL THERE, ALLOW THE EDIT TO GO THROUGH!!!!!!

I'd be happy with something less than an hour, and something more than 5 minutes after I hit "SAVE".
I usually find I need to change something just after clicking SAVE (stupid spelling autocorrect), or I have an epiphany a minute or four after I save something really stupid. So 10 minutes after SAVE is enough for 95% of my mistakes. 15 minutes will catch 99%.
I almost never need to go back more than an hour later ... and if I do need that, usually to delete a post that turns out to be totally irrelevant to the thread because I failed to read the question thoroughly, I ask an Admin to make the change. Like this post: where after rereading the OP I quoted I have to add that I 100% agree that if I can hit the edit button I should be able to save the edit.
