Stuck on "Pausing..."

Totally a noob here so please bear with me. I got the Mini+ assembled and set up at long last.  The First Layer calibration took a while but I'm happy with it now.  As part of that process, I updated ("flashed") the firmware to version 4.3.1 (latest I could find). I successfully printed the "PRUSA" logo from the stock options in the USB stick sent, and now I'm trying to print the "Treefrog_variable_MINI_PLA_1h15m.gcode".

I'm 36% (28 min 48 sec) into the print, with 48 minutes remaining time.  The "frog" has all 4 of his feet, and the body is about 0.25 inches tall so far.  But now the screen says "Pausing...".  Its been that way for over 15 minutes now.  Long enough for me to look through the whole manual, search the Knowledge Base, and then this forum.  Nothing seems to be happening, although the fan is still running.  Temperature is holding steady at 210/210 and 60/60.

What is going on? Is this normal?  Should I just continue to wait?  For how long?  Clicking the button/dial on the front makes it "beep" but nothing else.

Now after 52 minutes, it says its ready to resume

And I've clicked the "Resume" option.  I'll let you know what happens.

42%...this is taking forever

So now after another 31 minutes, its all the way up to "42%" and again seems to be sitting there doing nothing.  Both the extruder and the plate are at their desired temperatures (210 and 60).  Still leaving it running, but not impressed with this behavior.  What if anything am I doing wrong?

"Pausing..." again!

Now it's almost another hour later, and it's "Pausing..." again.  I have not touched it.  And its still stuck at 42%, with all heat sensors unchanged.  WTF!

Resumed.

Another 30 minutes later, and it finally finished "pausing".  So I was able to click resume.  Now its at 45% and seems to be going ok.  MTF...

RE: Done but not successful

Well, it finished.  But the frog is mis-shaped.  Its like someone sliced through his head and moved his head back about 3/8ths of an inch from his body.  And the whole print took over 5 hours (but was predicted to take only 1 and a bit).  So something is definitely wrong. I would like to know where I go from here.

Is this the Mini kit, the one you build from scratch, or the version that is mostly pre-assembled and you just slot the assemblies together?

This might be an intermittent connection so I would first check that all plugs are fully inserted - carefully pull and reinsert all of them.

Cheerio,

RE: Firmware + Belt Tension

I would also make sure that:

  1. The firmware is fully up-to-date (latest is 4.3.3 and recent updates fix some USB issues which could maybe be the cause of random pauses)
  2. Make sure that there is no filament or other obstructions in the gears/belt, especially under the bed. Also double-check your belt tension. Those are probable causes of your model's head getting "sliced" like that.

Update: current status

I apologize for the confusion:  4.3.1 is the version I updated from on Friday before starting this whole thread.   I did have version 4.3.3 flashed before this whole thing.  The next day, when we went to try again, the screen gave an error about the USB key not being read right.  So we downloaded the "Treefrog_variable_MINI_PLA_1h15m.gcode" to a NEW usb stick and tried again.  This time it finished within a reasonable amount of time as compared to the estimate, and only paused itself once.  The resulting frog has his head "slid back" by about 1 mm (as opposed to by about 8 mm) but otherwise seems mostly fine.  I will check the belt tension, and try printing something else.  You can close this thread.
