I am trying not to defend anymore. It is tough because a lot folks just go off with hyper-inflammtory accusations.

I've gotten a bit burnt out too. If someone just wants to gripe, I generally won't respond unless they start going after our members. Some of the assertions are ridiculous and not worth the effort. Anything that starts with "Jo Prusa should stop wearing his T-shirt..." results in that poster being filed under "IDIOT" in my mental catalog.

I appreciate that. It just rubbed me raw that a person was aggravated with his purchase, as was I, and the fanbois of course jumped on him. Sometimes people just want to hear “I get it, I’m frustrated also”. I did my best to help him out, but for whatever reason, the thread disappeared for a day or so then reappeared after a user jumps in and starts defending the printer on his very first post(?). It can certainly all be a coincidence, but it’s hardly a “hyper inflammatory accusation” as someone stated.
I’m not a troll, and I have a decent digital footprint posting and sharing my design work here and on Thingiverse. I have also steered many people towards Prusa because of the excellent support. The mini is my second printer based on my experience with my Mk3. I don’t need to rehash it all.
I appreciate what you do and don’t mean to start a dumpster fire. I’ve been on some bad forums before, and I’m glad that you aren’t censoring negative comments.
Thanks,
Dave Smith

I think it is important not to call names (fanboys). You lose any discussion when you do that. I did not call you a troll. I said it entered my mind and that based on the inflamatory nature of you post. I apologize for my first response.

The OP specifically wrote "Someone please, restore my faith in this company. I want to love my printer, but honestly, right now, I just want to return it."
- All of the responses I read have been in accordance with this.
- This includes what you seem to consider overly-positive comments.
- That is an opinion. You're entitled to yours, of course, but that doesn't invalidate other opinions that disagree.
- There have been no technical questions or discussions. There is nothing to respond to.

I'm not sure what response to provide to your feeling that the thread "disappeared". Joan has clarified that she does not have such a capability and has done no such thing. I do consider your implication that the administrators did so a "hyper-inflammatory accusation". That is my opinion. You are, of course, entitled to your own.

It sounds like we're all in violent agreement that some people are experience frustration with the Mini, while others are having very good experiences. It would be great to move those in the first group into the second, but that will require focusing on specific issues.

Daddylottamanboob,
You'd do well to listen to CW, seems like a smart guy. Something rubbed you the wrong way, well guess what, you went and did the same thing to an honest poster. Gee I like talking about myself in the third person.
Anyway, I got no hard feelings, I like my printer(churning for four days now, no dicking around, just poopin out things I want) and I can help too. I got a lotta scar tissue from fixing my CR-10 clone...

@dylan81
I have the same scars from my Ender 3. I am more than glad to try to help you all.

RE: Prusa Mini Quality
I had nothing but problems with mine. Took 3 days to get it to lay down a full first layer. Same issue with the hot-end being secured too low. Prusa also shipped with BOTH pieces of PTFE too short so I added a piece of capricorn tube from my other printers and that worked well until I tried to print PLA again. For some reason, it printed PETG great, but would not melt PLA, weird I know.
Either way, Prusa shipped me an inoperable machine. I wasn't expecting that. I expected Prusa to ship a machine that needed little or no adjustments and yes, as others have suggested, customer support. Their support was great.
I have other printer, friends have them and we have one at work so I have some experience with them to form a good comparison and the Mini + is a regular FDM printer in a cute form factor. My Creality machines (CR10s Pro V2 and Ender 3) print just as well but don't have the ghosting I do with the Mini.
I don't know what to say. They sent me an inoperable machine and as a business owner myself, I must admit that they are lucky that I feel comfortable working on printers as I was going to return what was a piece of shit (I know that's brutal, but a $400 machine was inoperable until I fixed it myself). I had to FORCE this thing through days of tweaking and making adjustments to get it to print as well as it does now, however I have more confidence with Creality machines after this debacle. Personally, I should have stuck with Creality since my experience has been good, however the form factor of this thing sucked me in. Weeks later, this thing prints good, with mild ghosting and I just started to enjoy it.
I understand others may have a different view of it and that's cool. I suspect others can respect my view as well.

That is unfortunate. I have 4 and they all work perfectly.

I suspect my experience wasn't that typical of Prusa. All the research I did previous to purchasing it was positive which made me feel comfortable about buying it. Only when I received the machine and couldn't even put down a first layer, I started googling the issues and found a LOT more people with the same under extrusion issues.
Out of curiosity, you didn't have to adjust the heat-break on yours at all? I had to loosen the grub screws and push it up about 5 mm.
RE: Prusa Mini Quality
@pingtimeout
I know my experience is not universal of Creality Ender-3, but it is extremely common. I have a piece of junk sitting in a 3D printer cacoon. It is common to be unable to get a printer to work. It is rare for a Prusa. Sorry for your troubles.

RE: Prusa Mini Quality
I wonder what the breakdown is for people who bough the Mini pre-assembled vs the kit that are having problems. I feel that a team that makes thousands of them have insight and experience in building the units that doesn't translate well to written instructions or short videos. There could be a lot of assumptions the folks at Prusa are making when you're assembling the kit that that aren't the ones consumers actually share.

I built 2 of my four Minis and 5 of 8 Mk3S. It has a learning curve.

It would be good if Prusa would let several beginners assemble a printer under their supervision and include all the stumbling blocks in their documentation so that any errors during assembly could be ruled out in sufficient time. Practice -> theory and not vice versa.
I myself have disassembled and reassembled my printers about 10 times. Of course, the learning curve is constantly increasing, which I have also documented regularly.

Returning my Mini
I have tried and tried the advertised solutions for stringing, bad layer to layer adhesion (prints break with little force), blobs, top surface pocketing issues, etc, without success. I even upgraded to the Bondtech IFS extruder to see if that would help. It didn't. I've spent way too much time trying to fix a preassembled printer and have no more time for this. I love my MK3S and thought this would be almost as awesome. I'm incredibly disappointed with the Mini. Working on sending it back now with the very courteous and helpful Prusa support group.
Sorry
Sorry to hear of your troubles. You can also probably sell it on eBay also.

RE: Prusa Mini Quality
I am not wondering, that some people are really disapointed about this printer for this money.
Mine was coming before week and during printing the Z-Axis stopps working. Seems to be an issue with threaded rod, as in two places it goes really difficult. We had selftest succesfull, but also not succesfull, it seems by selftest is the engine able to go over the hard place. But when printing, it stops going up and prints on same level.
Really painfull as support did not provided any solution in 5 days of communication.
I am disapointed, too.
Use chat with help desk NOT email.
@map001 Obviously I don't know how you are communicating with the help desk but it appears that chat is handled in real time and email not so much.
